Spring 2020 Gobbler Season

So, go to open field areas, don't use a call since they will ignore it or worse yet, I will scare them away. I have heard of hunters calling to other hunters. :D I need turkeys in my back yard.

Yes, exactly from what i learned this last week hunting those buggers in WI. I DID think those guys were turkeys at first too!!! :tearsofjoy:

I may go out this week for a walk in the woods. I have a turkey call that is a piece of sanded plexiglas and a stick with a corncob on the end. It makes turkey like sounds. Do I need chalk rubbed on it?
Please dont do that. That would ruin it. It sounds like you have a glass pot call. Check on YouTube for how to condition a pot call. With that being said they are kind of advanced. If you are new to calling a box call will get you better results.

As far as finding turkeys; dad always said, turkey live in the deer woods. Where there is a deer there are turkeys, you just have to find one willing to play.

After 3 years of trying I finally closed the deal on my first Turkey! Shot him at 40 yrds and the Remington 870 and Winchester Longbeard XR preformed excellent! This is the first animal harvested on my very own land! On opening day to boot.

10 inch paint brush.
1 inch and an 1/8th spur and 1 half inch broken spur

Nice birds everyone, I can't wait. PA season doesn't start for another 2 weeks. My boss and wife think I'm crazy practicing with my calls. Got my permethrin mixed up just have to spray down my gear and I should be good to go.

I discovered permethrin three years ago and haven’t had a tick since.

Great stuff, wish i’d known about it decades ago.

Yeah i know, I haven't had one on me unless I wear something that I didn't spray. I get the bottle of concentrate from Rural King, or Tractor Supply and premix my own in a pump sprayer, hang all my clothes and hose them babies down till the drip then seal them in a garbage bag for a few days before I hang them up to dry.

Smacked this 1 at 60 steps after 5 longbeards got nervous. I shot the strutter.. lost ground and didn't think he was that far till I stood up. Franchi al48 28ga with a pressure tested handload of tss called red rocket. 28 is feelin the love this year. Been 4 times watched 3 birds fall by it. Other 2 I called in for other friends letting them use my gun....now if I can just get some luck with the 410.

Nice seeing all the successes!

Maybe ill give it a whirl again next season in WI but put more effort into finding some out of the way spots not as easy to get to on public.
