SRT Pre Sets: No Limbs, help!

So I'm new to SRT climbing, but I've got all my gear and feel good about it with friends who have been teaching me. My problem is that I have some trees I want to hunt that either have branches that are too small to use, or they are way too high. So is there something I can put in the tree to create a false limb? Thinking about a couple lag bolts around the tree, or tree steps, all just thoughts. I would bring my climbing sticks in to set up what I needed in the tree, and make pre sets with paracord. Anyone have experience with this??
 
You can climb using another method then tie some rope with a tree ring at the height you need to hold the preset loop.

Limb size doesn't matter much with SRT as the limbs only purpose is to position the rope. The trunk is what supports your weight.

SNIPERBBB what do you mean by a tree ring, sorry if it's a dumb question haha
 
If you are planning to use sticks to preset, if state allows, just hammer in a nail at a downward angle, it will hold your paracord and allow it to slide easily. Or just tie paracord with a cheap hook around the tree tight if drilling is not allow on public land.

 
I've tied a piece of accessory cord with a cinch type knot and left a loop in the loose end for the paracord to go through. Run the paracord through the loop, around the trunk, and back through the loop. It can sometimes be touchy stringing your rope through but it works.

Cut 6 or 7 pcs of 3/4” pvc pipe from Home Depot. Use the bell ends. Cut the pipes to 30” each (including the bell end). Make a “V” shaped notch in one of the bell ends. Girth hitch your rope around the tree at head height. Use the notched bell end and shimmy the rope at the girth hitch back and forth up the tree. As you get to the end of your reach, insert another pipe bell end up, onto your pipe with the notch. Shimmy back and forth working the girth hitch higher up the tree. Repeat this process until you get the hitch up to your desired height. The pipe is strong enough, it’s pretty light and it’ll fit inside most back packs or traditional arrow quiver. Meaning it’s easy to pack. I use this method for pine trees as they usually have small branches and I don’t enjoy pine sap all over my throw line, paracord or climbing rope. It works like a charm
 
Wow you guys are awesome! I guess my worries of not having a branch are not a worry anymore! I always questioned if just a girth hitch around a tree would hold my weight, in fear of it wanting to slip down
 
Hmm going off the PVC idea...if you have some 3-4" pipes laying around, you can cut them down into rings
 
And if you want to do pre set, create a false crotch. Get a tether and a strong prusik. A carabiner and one of the cheap climbing pulleys or a carabiner that has the built in pulley (if using DRT or SRT and girth hitching at the bottom of the tree). If you are simply SRT at the top, a climbing “O” ring is best to use. Pull the paracord through it before you advance…. Anyway you can use the PVC method mentioned above to get the false crotch up to height
