SRT with figure 8

Just curious. Why would your replace your gri gri with the figure 8?
I've used a grigri before, but I dont own one. I did however own a hand ascender and a figure 8. This is why I tried to figure it out.

This sounds like a dealbreaker to me.
Really you just have to pull the tag end up. If you re route the tag end through ascender it will flip. Otherwise your good.

I don't know what the failure modes are with this. Until you find out you might want to avoid 20 foot climbs. I have a gri gri and have done about a dozen climbs and rappels and it seems to just work. Why not just use the figure 8 for the way it was designed? In the standard modes it certainly has enough centuries of testing to know what to expect. I am not trying to be a wise a$$ but this must have been tried many decades ago and abandoned for some reason. If you find any more info please let us know. I am tempted to buy a figure eight to play with at low level.
