Sticks vs spikes

Yep going thru the process of elimination, and ended up with the cup pads. Best so far.

I have only heard good things about the aluminum cup pads from climb rite so If I order a set of spurs that's what I intend to get. Has anyone tried sticking them in the tree and putting a whoopee sling or strap around the top to us as a backpack and bow hanger once they get to height.
 
Are there any states that allow them for hunting on public land? None of the ones I hunt allow it.
