Storing 9mm HTP rope

I started out with 40ft in the fleece pouch but found that I would never realistically employ 40ft. Always had at least 12-15ft laying at the bottom of the tree. Eventually I cut it down to 25ft and I'm perfectly happy with it. The leftover gave me a nice tether (should I ever need it).
Do you use your climbing line to pull up your bow or pack? I use mine to pull up my bow. I have 50 ft of Sterling 9mm.

No sir. I use the preset paracord.

1. I'll pull my climbing rope up and over the branch by attaching it to my preset paracord.
2. I will run my climbing rope through itself and girth hitch the tree trunk above the branch.
3. One end of the preset paracord I used to pull my climbing rope up with is now up in the tree attached to my climbing rope at the girth hitch. The other end is available to tie an alpine butterfly at the appropriate height (usually right at ground level) and affix to my bow.
4. I pull up my bow using the preset paracord (now functioning as a pull-up rope).

I have a couple of loops of masons twine in a tree in my backyard with the ends tied with captured bowlines. When I put a rope up, I girth hitch to the rope and pull the rope up while leaving the loop in the tree. It just stays there permanently. I was going to leave a paracord loop in the tree before I shot a doe out of last Tuesday but removed it when I packed everything up. When hunting yesterday, I could not find the same tree since it was such thick brush.

For 9 mm, what is your choice for rappel?
I just bought a Madrock Safeguard and used it for the first time yesterday. When unweighted it stays locked on the rope since there is no spring to release it. I have used a Madrock Lifeguard and a Petzl GriGri. If I was still using them, I would not feel less safe. They are designed to catch a fall. The stiff, static lines seem to make them lock quicker than dynamic lines. I would choose the Safeguard, it is a bit better for descending under control. I like descending under control. TV and movies have made rappelling something where you think you have to yell yahoo and just streak towards the ground.
