I wanted to wait until I had some real tree time before posting this.I called OAL to see if they would make me a strait scout to use for one stick climbing.I wanted it strait so I didn't have to use a ros.If there was enough room,I'd be able to pivot for a drop shot on my weak side. They made me one and actually shipped it out that day, which was unreal.I've played with this system quite a bit and it's simply awesome.Because the standoffs put you several inches away from the tree and where the scout attaches to the top of the stick, you have plenty of room to pivot and make that shot to the weak side.I haven't weighed it but I doubt it's more than 2.5lbs with a 20" shikar stick, eastern outdoor daisy chain and two step aider from backwoods mobile.I start about 7' off the ground and three effortless pulls gets me at hunting height with a platform. It's easily the best mobile system I've ever used.

I might have to contact Matt to see if I can get one. I like the angle for leaning but not maneuvering around the tree.

That's all I did and he was more than accomodating. This is actually a pretty cool segment of the industry where these innovative guys listen to their customers.

I made a straight one similar to this and then ordered the angled one. If you haven't tried the angled scout you may want too. It is way more comfortable the my homemade straight platform

I can see the angled one being more comfortable if you lean but I primarily use a JX3 so I sit most of the time.I'd give up a little comfort for the ability to do a drop shot to my weak side.

Does the straight platform get in the way when 1 sticking? Seems that with a short stick that it would hit you in the shins and prevent you from standing on the bottom step

I haven’t thought of that. Only one way to find out.

Really interested in adding this to my EWO stick. My stick will be 15” and I wanted to know if the platform would get in the way when on the bottom step. Seems it would hit you in the legs. Could you explain your experience climbing with it?
