Having issues getting my setup more streamline. Going in and getting setup, I have no problems. It’s the tearing down and packing up part that I’m having trouble with. I’m running 3 LW cut down sticks with eastern woods cable aiders. Using the buckles for my sticks. Was using the rope mod until one hunt the top stick kicked out on me. So I switched back to the buckle. My issue is after I climb down, I’m at the bottom of the tree for a good 10mins getting my sticks packed up along with my predator platform. Was thinking about getting another dump pouch and keeping my stick straps in the pouch. What’s your thoughts?

I was running essentially the same set up and had the same issue.

I ended up buying a SYS hauler for each hip; Lineman’s Rope and Tether in one, LW Straps and Predator Straps in the other. This helped a lot as I could pack up my straps as I came down the tree.

I still spend too much time strapping my sticks and platform together/to my pack though(which is why I’m moving to the one stick method). I ended up throwing together a deal that would hold my sticks secure, my platform would sit on top, and then strap it to my pack. It’s a rough first version, but it’s worked well so far. I’ll try to post a picture of it tonight.

I’m having the same issue alittle too. I’m running the hawk minis but only using 3 all with different attachment methods. #1 woven daisy chain webbing #2 Amstel daisy chain #3 the original buckle strap. I finding if I use the buckles I’ll probably put all in my pack or dump pouch but one and just use to one strap to hold my sticks tighter together still takes time to do all of this but the more you do it the quicker you’ll get.

This is why I always preach taking account of every single aspect of a climbing method. Packing sticks in, and especially packing sticks up to leave, annoy me to no end.

I like one stick, bolts, or single strap on steps for this reason. Any of these is easy to wrap up to leave, with bolts or one stick being clear winner.

There simply isn't more you can do. You have 5-10lbs of sharp metal objects you have to stack a certain way, and pack with a certain placement and tension, to avoid noise/destroying your pack/grabbing on crap.

Just one stick, that's how I fixed the issue. I only bring my LW sticks (cut down) in when I know one sticking is not feasible. I also went buckle-less on the LW's.

I pack my hawk heliums in on a sling. I wrap my daisy chains up, stack them and use my linesman as a sling. Quick to leave

Packing up always is a pain for me too at the end of the hunt. I swap between WE steps and the Hawk minis. Hate to say but I find myself taking the easy way out and just dumping everything that fits in my pack and hike out. Then back at home or camp or whatever I’ll take it all back out and roll up, tie up and put everything back together the way it should be at that time. At the tree I’ll of course still click the sticks together and strap them to hike out.

I single stick with a shikar mini and a multi step aider. When climbing ill set my platform and then advance my shikar mini to knee or waist high while on the platform. Once I get my bow and pack settled in the tree I pack the stick up, and because its a mini, it sits nicely inside any back pack.

I can get up a tree and ready to hunt in 20mins. I get down. And walking out in 15mins.

I have 2 pouches on each side of my saddle. One is for my lineman belt the other is for my tether.

I have 4 API sticks cut down to 20inches with my bottom 2 sticks having a 20inch adier. All are done in the rope mod.. They are all stacked together and secured with two of those twisty rubber tise and straped to the bottom of my pack running horizontal.

I run a tether predator platform stock with the buckle. I have a piece of paracord looped around the top handle of my pack that I hook the platform to with the bark biter of the platform.

I get to my tree. Take my back pack off to get to my sticks. I take my sticks apart and put my first two sticks on the tree. I than put my back pack back on and hang my other two sticks from my side with a loop of paracord. I go up and attach my other 2 sticks. One I get my last stick on I take my back pack off and hang on my top stick so I can get to my platform. Put my platform on put my backpack on step onto the platform. Of corse I'm doing all this with my lines belt attach.

I grab my backpack hanger out of the side of one of my pouches and hang my pack. Than do my bow holder..

Put my tether on the tree get comfy and remove my linesman belt and put back in the pouch. Pull my bow up that I attach to a retractable pull up cord that is mounted on my saddle in the center above my tail bone.

And in ready.

On the way down just the opposite. But when I take my sticks off I wrap the rope around the sticks on the way down so when I get down the tree I just have to put them together and strap to pack and walk out.

I have had my top stick want to kick out but you can see if they are wanting to. My bottom two sticks with the adiers never have wanted to.. I believe that is because of the adier and is pulling and setting the sticks straight down were when you step on a stick you put side pressure also and that is what causing the sticks to kick out.

So I'm adding a small adier to my top two stick just to eliminate the side pressure so when I put my weight on the adier it pulls the stick straight down and sets to the tree.

Also my sticks have a solid step all the way across unline your LW.

So when I climb down my first move is to put my foot in the center of my top step with my foot running the length of the step. This makes sure I'm pushing straight down on my stick and than I step down on my bottom step.

When I'm standing on my steps I make sure I'm on one step putting pressure on both side of my stick so the force is equal.

Hope this helps

Sticks suck to pack and unpack. No way around it. 10 minutes sounds a little excessive though. I can get 4 lwcg minis on the ambush and on my back in maybe 3.

Best advice I have is to video the whole thing from start to finish and rewatch it. That helped me a lot. You see the places where you're just fumbling and struggling, and you can go to the drawing board and solve that problem

You could also always pack it better later. Alot of the places i hunt are not too far and once i get back to camp i have all night. Most times i just jam whatever in pack however it fits. Get back to camp, dump it all out and repack the gear and pack for the next hunt while having a beer or two. Kinda relaxing and really makes think about how and what to pack. Leave this, bring that, that didn't fit well here try it over there next time.

I don’t use a pack. I fell as tho if I bring a back, I’ll end up bringing items I don’t need. Lol. I use a shoulder strap from a Milwaukee tool bag I had laying around to carry my sticks and platform. I have paracord loops on my sticks and platform. I have the platform bungeed to the sticks. My field dress kit is in my right dump pouch under my tether rope and I keep my lineman’s belt and parcord pull rope in the left pouch. The last hunt was the first time I used the aiders. I love them but since I put them on, the sticks are a pain in the ass to line up so they nest in together. I can post pics later today when I get home. The bolt head sticks out further now cause of the eyelets on the aiders.

One thing I do with my tree stand is just leave my sticks in the woods hidden really well. Keeps me from carrying them in but once and out when I need to relocate. Or hide them just off your trail so you don’t have to carry them far. Just an idea.
