Stroller suggestions

Healthy immune systems are built at great expense, and suffering. Pay now or pay later. Sure nobody wants COVID or the flu but I fear the family logistical collapses that happen about as much as the germs!

Kids get sick, no daycare, you take a few days off work… kids get better… now the germ finally gets you… take more days off or try to struggle through it? Fun stuff!

This too too real

This is one “advantage”, if I’m being a little sadistic, of being a teacher: I get minor or abruptly severe/abruptly gone versions of everything the kids bring to me, or my immune system says “nah we good on that” and gets it handled. Knock on this tree trunk I’m attached to, there’s not much I haven’t seen or fought off from a germ perspective.

I’m glad me and the wife made it through 5 boys never owning a stroller. I think we may have got our oldest one of those cheap foldable ones for when his grandparents took him to Disney world but other than that none. Now car seats, holy crap did we have about 6000 of those things. Me and the wife are both big on once they walk they walk lol no carrying or picking up of any kind unless it’s to help them into the truck and stuff like that. They run up hurt we get on their level and hug them not picking up was much easier adjustment for me than the wife even though it was her suggestion lol

Picked up a Chicco Bravo Trio Travel System on sale after talking to multiple friends about what worked for them and then getting mildy frustrated at all the gear options for strollers and car Carriers. I plan to pick up a used jogger as well. 5BCB249B-39BC-4456-8B6F-C2D0B9BC4BA6.jpeg

Any of y’all use these ergo carriers? Wife wants one. 41B67DED-0F9A-449A-AFCE-E2E3B8B60A0C.jpeg

Baby gear is out of control but not as fun as hunting gear.

Don't have experience with that carrier but whichever one you get, it's not recommended to carry the baby face out like that. Bad for their hips apparently

Good pick on the stroller. We are on our second baby two under two and hardly ever use our carrier. It's miserable to wear them in summer here in Alabama and its usually more convenient t to put them in a stroller. We might have used our carriers 10 times between both kids. Also, you can't do hardly anything with them strapped to your chest other than walk or do something standing up. Just a thought.

Yea we’re in Alabama too and I was trying to tell the Mrs. it is going to be a sweat bath with that thing on. Thanks for the thoughts.

I had a similar thought but some articles I was reading said otherwise. Now I’m not sure. I know i sure wouldn’t want to be held in a split wether that’s facing away or facing towards.

It seems that that carrier would be fine for short durations because it does support the thighs of the baby. Not supporting the thighs seems to be the concern for causing hip displasia at least from that article. That article also stated that carrying a baby on mom or dads hip for extended periods of time is one the of the biggest risks for hip problems for babies under 4 months.

My wife and I always carry our babies chest to chest, or like a backpack. FWIW. I dunno a thing about the hips or whatever, it’s just the easiest way to keep an eye on them while carrying (choking, sleeping, etc.) When they face away you can’t see what’s happening on their face which is like, the only way to know what the hell a baby is up to.

Well... If I missed this one. Apologies. But if @gcr0003 are expecting. Congratulations!!!
Thanks man! Our nugget was expected to be delivered around March 2nd (well planned between deer and Turkey season), but had to be medically extracted 2 months early after my wife unexpectedly had some severe medical complications. Mom and son are both doing well. He’s at the NICU for a couple months but he’s putting on weight and seems to be doing ok other than just being premature.

My wife is due with #3 March 18th.

Glade to hear things are going okay. Congratulations!

I believe this is what we have. The carrier just drops in when they’re younger. Then you can still use it as they get older.

We had something similar to this but it completely collapsed down to store out of the way. I’ll ask my wife if she remembers. It still may be up in my garage attic come to think of it.

Absolutely get a backpack carrier too. I oftentimes carried and pushed both. It was fun when one was old enough to walk and I carried the younger. Enjoy these times Dad’s they go lightening quick!!

Congrats!! Best baby carrier purchases we made were one of those foldable wagons and an Osprey Poco! Still using it for our youngest one, but the time is now counting down towards last use lol.

4 years ago we got either that Graco or one very similar to it.

My wife used a baby carrier like that to take our daughter for walks outside, raking leaves, etc. Got a lot of use out of it. I also had one (off of Marketplace for a couple of bucks, used) and I maybe used it a dozen times. It was a spare/backup/loaner (for Grandma visits) etc. These could be adjusted as MiniLlama grew and got strong enough to hold her head up.

The backpack carrier we had also opened up and allowed you to set it on the ground with the baby in it upright. Worked great for doing tasks around the house, putting up and taking down cell cams etc. Your kids were with you and you didn't have to sit around the house moping because you could get in the woods with them. These small investments.... and quite honestly I think some of them were shower gifts etc. were hugely important to us and keeping us able to enjoy nature with our children.
