I can’t find it but someone shared a method of climbing with their LW climber(just the part for your feet) and their saddle/tether. I loved the idea but don’t have a LW climber. Anyone ever use the bottom of one of their aluminum Summit stands? I hunt mainly on my lease with a lot of pines so weight isn’t that important (short walks). Thoughts??

If I was gonna carry the larger base I would just use the climber. To answer your search question there are multiple threads on it search LWHC or Lone wolf hand climber etc there is a lot of good info it,

Additionally there are quite a few videos on youtube on it as well

I am not trying to stir the pot.... But... I had a summit goliath SD and a lone wolf sit and climb. I ordered them both with in a week of each other. They both showed up and I was amazed at how hollow and "clangy" noisy the summit was. I am not brand loyal and will buy the best of each pieces from all brands. The summit went back the next day. FYI

I like bow hunting out of my saddle more than a climber due to some of my smaller food plots and available trees to climb. If I’m in my saddle I can hide behind the tree and wait for an opportune time to draw.

I think there’s no question that LW products are better but I have the summit climber already. The bigger product makes no difference as I’m only walking ~3-500 yards.

I know the sit and climb with tether method works great just was curious if anyone was using the bottom to a summit as I already have one. I did watch the vids and love the idea which is why I was feeling this one out

here is a thread of guys using the top part of a lone wolf

I have used my lone wolf hand climber this year as i decided if i want to move to a saddle only setup. I have requested wild edge steps and a ridge runner platform for christmas as i have really liked using a sit/climb saddle/rc harness. i use my lw climber as normal then when im up ill place the seat part on the opposite of the tree near the straps and ignore it. and a lw handclimber is imo no big deal to carry. The only reason im switching off if it is because i dont like climbing with it.

I shot a doe early season last year using a saddle with a summit lower platform. Pretty straight forward. However, I advise tying the bottom because I normally use stabilizer straps (best mod on a climber) from bottom to top, and w/o the top, you'll want to fasten the lower to the tree somehow.

But yes, it's doable, although a bit harder to climb w/the platform a bit further away from the tree, so you'll have to push off a bit more. But doable.

I use a lone wolf platform because I found it cheap on craigslist (slod with an old, blade style seat; don't know why it was mis-matched).

I live in in Colorado but fly to NY for whitetail and when I do I use my friends summit platform/tether with my saddle. Both work great but I never have a long walk.

Once, I tried the seat and platform (because it was already at the tree) and put the seat around the other side once at height. Didn't like that at all; it was just in the way and no need for it.

If you already have it, use it and see if you like it.

Thanks for the feedback!! I’m looking forward to trying it- I’ll be box standing it with a 2 year old this weekend but should be back to hunting in the thick stuff the following weekend.

I figured there would be a few folks that used one as climbing method and platform out there on this forum

I use my tether and the climbing platform from my old climber often. Lots of trees with no low limbs where I hunt. Also kinda helped with the learning curve getting into saddle hunting. I think I will be purchasing or diy a set of climbing sticks for next season.
