Summit Open Shot converted to a "sit and climb"

I've not liked how this stand climbs since I purchased it. :( I read where someone added a piece of rope to the hand climber to make it a "sit & climb". This got me to thinking of how I could make something more comfortable than a single piece of rope. I have an extra safety strap for a tree harness and decided to use it.
I leave the strap on the climber and when I'm hunting it's easily pushed to the back and out of the way. I attach it to an S-Biner that is part of the lanyard between the platform and climber....but you could just leave it hang there.

All you have to do is step in between the belt and the climber and sit down. I have the hand climber a little above hip height, when I sit down. Then I lift the platform by hooking my feet in the stirrups and stand back up. It goes pretty quick and quiet too. A lot less effort than the way it was designed to climb, that's for sure!

Also, it packs up nice and quiet too. I use the Summit cinch strap to hold it in place for packing.
This way it can be left attached to the climber. :)

I have a Summit Clearshot which has a hand climber like yours without the seat. The seat is mounted to the bottom platform. I still use it some and thought about making it into a sit and climb as well. I don't use the Summit stirrups, never liked them. I use an adjustable strap for the toes and some bungee cord for the heels. The sit and climb strap would make it easier to get my feet hooked into the straps.

Nice! I like those Summit's - I have a Viper SD that I can't really part with. I removed the original seat and replaced it with Hazmore mesh seat, Third Hand Archery bow holder and safety/security straps. If we could easily/safely climb trees with branches it would be my only tree stand I'd own - unfortunately, it can't.

I do the same exact thing with a summit razor that I took the sitting bar off of. I like it much better then dealing with the bar in the sitting position and then moving it to the open position.
I have hazmore on my summits as well. And this package pack’s nice and is quiet.
