Wow! I would have guessed you were much younger than 51! I guess having your own croasfit gym in your garage really pays off.

One thing I am constantly amazed by on this forum is how many of us saddle hunters fall into that "geezer" category. Many of my friends laugh and tell me I'm too old to be climbing and hanging from trees with ropes. Fact is that I actually find it at least as easy if not easier than using my Summit. It certainly lightens the load for the hike in.

I though you were much younger until you told me also Jay! I give you the most credit for having a baby at 50. Having one in my 30's is tough enough! lol!

I said the same thing when he told me how old he was at SaddlePalooza. If I was still drinking I would have spit my beer all over the place.

I look to be right in the mean of this group. It is crazy for me to believe I am 55 years old, but I am.

I started small game hunting in the hills of East TN when I was 11 years old. There were no deer in TN at that time. After the TWRA started their deer stocking project, I remember the first deer print I ever saw. It was in a mud puddle along an old farm road that meandered down a wooded valley to the Lake. A young buddy and I were squirrel hunting when we saw it. There was a lot of disbelief but it was true... deer were getting a start in East Tennessee. I was 16 yrs old at that time.

I attended SaddlePaloosa this year, have been practicing from an old Arborists saddle and will hunt from a Mantis this year.

You and are the same age and I live in greene county Tennessee. Small world!

I am 59 been hunting since I was 12 that was the age limit in Pa at that time. Went bowhunting with my cousin when I was 7 just sat there not old enough to hunt but I was hooked. Killed my first deer with a bow when I was 13 been bowhunting ever since. Been saddle hunting from the early 80s.

Killed my first deer at twelve and a few more by 18. Went commercial fishing and quit hunting till 2004. Picked up a friends bow #70 Hoyt at the bow range I belong to now and couldn’t draw it. So I went to bass pro and bought a Parker Hunter Mag. I have been hooked into what I think is the best hobby a man could want hunting deer with a bow.
I am a lot like Mr WHW as I hunt alone and travel to as many different WMA’s as possible. I need to stay more fit but don’t have the drive it takes to work out. I am a one man show and don’t depend on anyone as Mr Warren says that way I’m never let down. My thought process is if you aren’t an hour early your already late. With my job taking two thirds of my time I don’t get to hunt as much as I would like. But Deer season starts the last Saturday in July I think this year and late season in N Florida goes till mid Feb. I’ll be hunting Everglades City to N Virginia this year.
I’m 63 in Sept.
