I'm a camera newbie. Besides batteries and a SD card do I need anything else to get this thing up n runnin?

no that is all you will need but if your gonna activate it to send pics you will need to download the app and scan your camera with your phone before you put it out. hope this helps

Ok it said sim slot but I guess thats already in there? I'm reluctant to use one. I feel like its gonna take some the excitement out of things. I got 3. Only one of these cellphone ones tho. Picked up 2 for 70 bucks on Walmart.com n they both came with batteries n an SD card. Wildgame innovations lights out cameras. Prolly suck but i hunt all public land so not trying to pay an arm n a leg just to have it walk off.

yeah the tactacam already has a sim card. it can be really fun, especially when you start getting pics of shooter deer or different animals. i have had pics of bobcats carrying squirrels in there mouth, deer fighting. i love checking cams especially during the rut to see what all has moved in. hope you have fun with it.

Anybody know if there's a way to lock this thing to a tree. Ive seen some spypoint cameras and other brands that have steel boxes with a cable. Im guessing if its a cell cam people might be a little more reluctant because its sending them to my phone...but still

There is a spot on the back for a python cable lock. No box yet but I’m sure someone will make one soon. To me they are more bear protection than stopping someone who is willing to cut a cable.

ahhhh ok I see the cable slot. Nice! If a bear gets it I can prolly follow the picture trail on my phone. Get my cam back n a nice new rug for the den

Bears just destroyed stuff in general. They don’t want to keep it, just drag it around and chew on it a while.
