Team 12 Thread

LOL, I'd rather not say. Horse playing at work, just passed a test for a promotion. Filled with excitement I jumped off a door to surprise co-workers. the door swung open and with my momentum my weight all shifted into rolling my ankle. Snapped the bone, not as young as I once was. Lesson learned.

Team 12,
I want to start out by saying, everyone is doing a great job and keep it up! I unfortunately am not contributing very well at all. With a broken leg and in an air cast for 2 weeks as of today. I have only been in the saddle 3 times. As soon as I'm out of this dang thing I'll be hitting it hard and finally start contributing to the team. Keep posting the pics and keeping you spirits up, I'm living vicariously through all of you.
Heal up buddy! At least you have an excuse......these critters have been kicking my teeth in this season!

Missed another one. 2.5 year old 8 point. Arrow hit something and deflected. Found it 15-20 yards to the left of where the deer was standing. Nock was gone, and the insert was bent. Its been hard hunting to have two missed opportunities. Smh.

That sucks man. Hope you get another opportunity before y’all head back. Are you shooting trad as well?

Same boat my man.... missed a big public land deer day 3 of the season and then missed a smaller 8 a month later. Only to have the big deer i missed on public get shot by a woman who was sitting on the ground lol. Been a rough 2020

Hang in there, you got this! At least it was a clean miss and no harm done. Clean conscious to keep hunting hard.

Hey guys I haven't been here at the keyboard for awhile but I have been out hitting it hard for the past couple of weeks with nothing to show for my efforts unfortunately. Hope you guys didn't think I abandoned our team, lol.

I haven't seen many deer out there, between the unusually high temps and an ehd outbreak I guess it's not surprising. I do have a few decent bucks passing by trailcams during the middle of the night but I can't seem to pin down their core area.

On Monday morning as I was about to rappel I did have a 4pt come past me but my bow was already on the ground. He looked at me for a few minutes then continued on his way. Really not sure if I would have sent an arrow his way so I'm glad I didn't have the opportunity to make that choice.

I'm stuck working now till Sunday but the weather is changing and the colder temps are on the way so that should stimulate more deer movement. I'll find out when I'm back "hanging out" on Monday.

Setup for period 1 of my last park hunt was today. I pulled a camera that I had soaking over my intended spot for the last few weeks. I'm not normally a camera person since they're not legal on the public I typically hunt. I decided to leave it in video mode for chits and grins. Got a number of different bucks on camera, both in daylight and dark plus a bunch of does. They were all brown, so shooters in my book, and there were some real studs mixed in. One was a suuuuper wide 8 that looked like a tank.

Needless to say, tomorrow can't come soon enough.

One doe before legal light this morning. I’ll be back in this same spot this afternoon, then might move for tomorrow. It’s pretty crowded in my little corner spot of the park, apparently.

Saw a little 6 pt and a good 7 pt cruising this morning. Passed on the 7. Also a doe and a button buck and doe fawn. Exciting morning

Normally I would not have passed the 7. I don’t think he is a 2 yr old, but I’ve got this big fella hanging out. Twice in daylight. I may regret not shooting that buck this morning. I’m including pics of the deer I passed vs the deer I’m hunting

Had a quick hunt this evening from the ground had a doe blow and circle around me I heard her stomping and then drew back. Thought she was at 30 yards ended up being 35 yards. I regret taking the shot, I believe just nicked her in the leg. First bow shot at a deer on public, was exciting and learned something tonight. Be back at it in the morning at same spot, hopefully will get redemption.

Edit: Will be in saddle in the morning.

Stay after em bud

Full disclosure: this is only my second year hunting with bow only and I’ve never shot a buck with my bow.
So, 0745 I had the big 9pt that I’ve been hunting all season come in perfect. The problem was I had to watch him for over 5 minutes. Where He came from however, I didn’t have a shot until he was inside 10 yds. At that point I was so shook up I literally COULD NOT get my bow drawn back. I tried and I tried and it just wasn’t working. I was shaking like a leaf to the point my arrow was bouncing off the rest. Haha I feel like an absolute idiot but I know it happens. It was ridiculously fun though. Hopefully I’ll get another crack at him and it works out differently.. sorry fellas
