Team 12 Thread

Full disclosure: this is only my second year hunting with bow only and I’ve never shot a buck with my bow.
So, 0745 I had the big 9pt that I’ve been hunting all season come in perfect. The problem was I had to watch him for over 5 minutes. Where He came from however, I didn’t have a shot until he was inside 10 yds. At that point I was so shook up I literally COULD NOT get my bow drawn back. I tried and I tried and it just wasn’t working. I was shaking like a leaf to the point my arrow was bouncing off the rest. Haha I feel like an absolute idiot but I know it happens. It was ridiculously fun though. Hopefully I’ll get another crack at him and it works out differently.. sorry fellas
MANNNNNNN!!! TALK ABOUT BUCK FEVER! I don’t have any advice for you just keep getting after him. Everyone seems to be seeing deer, they should start falling for us soon.

I saw a 6pt, 7pt and the 9 pt all before 800 this morning. The 2 smaller bucks were cruising, but I did see a doe with 2 fawns still with her yesterday. Maybe we are getting close to full blown rut here in GA. I’ll be back out in the morning

I haven’t been hunting for a long time however I did lock up one time kind a like you described but more because of the cold weather. I did finally get it drawn but I was cold stiff and so focused on not spooking the deer that I forgot about my draw form. You might’ve tried everything already but I noticed when this happened to me that I had locked my bow arm and was drawing everything with my release arm. If you bring the bow back toward you a little and bend that arm in order to push and pull you get the benefit of both your left and right arm and back muscles. Even on the coldest mornings as long as I remember to do that I haven’t had any trouble drawing. I will follow this up by saying I haven’t had many shots at big bucks though so this might all still go out the window when that happens. I was talking to a buddy of mine and he thinks that warm weather pushEd the rut right in Georgia to the right a week so yeah they’re probably about fired up now good luck!

And I’m using the voice to talk because I’m driving so if that doesn’t make any sense don’t worry about it haha

I am out of town for work so I’m enjoying hearing about y’alls deer until I get back after em

That’s pretty much what happened. It was 37*, so cold played a factor. He was so close I too was worried about any movement spooking him. I don’t think he spooked bad. Thanks man. Hopefully there’s another chance at him. Would be the biggest deer I’ve ever killed by far

Saw one small buck this morning. He was moving quick and way too far away anyhow. Scouted my way back to the lot and marked a spot near some fresh sign for tonight.

Seen a couple of does and a fawn came about 5 yards in front of me. One of the best bow hunts I've ever had. If the fawn didn't have spots I might would have shot her....just to get this monkey off my back.

On one hand I applaud your personal ethics. On the other I say send it!

Always cool when they’re so close though.

I was looking thru the submission threads and see we have alot of Asat flex hunters here haha.

Don't feel like an idiot that feeling is exactly why we do this or at least exactly the reason I do it. I don't get that shook up everytime anymore which I'm glad because it makes it easier to keep my composure I do every once in awhile and I love that feeling. The uncontrollable shakes that you just can't stop. That's better than crack cocaine, and only comes in second, to well.........................we'll keep this family-friendly.

I ended up coming empty-handed in Ohio. As embarrassing as it is to admit I blew the opportunity on four deer. One of them the last one I shot at was just a yearling Doe but at that point I was just going to fill my tag and go home. Some of it was my fault and some of it was just bad luck. Had two deflections that didn't result in an injured deer but rather in a smooth miss. For the weather being as crappy as it was( apparently unusually hot but felt pretty normal to me) I was able to get on some deer so I was pretty happy about that. Learned a lot about topo maps and reading them while scouting in hunting in the Hills. Being a flatlander there's not much topography to work off of. Looking forward to going back to Ohio possibly next year. Hopefully I'll contribute to the team some soon. Probably going to get up in the morning make a hunt here by our house hopefully get a shot at a doe. Good luck and shoot straight y'all.

I struck out tonight. One more day in the park tomorrow, then a 3 day break and back in there on Thursday. I’ve seen deer every morning, and none of the evenings. So by that logic tomorrow should be awesome in there!

Nothing this morning. Crazy windy morning. Got some solid intel from a fellow hunter in the parking lot for next week. Gonna rest up these next few days and get back after it!

Didn't see anything this evening, it was dead calm once I got setup. Didn't even see a squirrel. Just pulled up to the house and there a are 3 deer standing in my yard, they are teasing me.

Wasn’t able to hunt this weekend but my father in law saw some deer MOVING.
Albeit some of the movement was prompted by our neighbors dogs. They have been running deer all over our place this year

I didn't get anything in IL, had a slammer at 8 yards broadside, 145"ish buck, that is assuming his missing right side matched the remaining left. Gun season in MO now, which means my 2nd buck tag is good. Time to upgrade my buck.

I’m up. Final weekend in the park. I bumped a buck during setup yesterday and he was a good one. I’m in way deep this time and rode my bike as far as I could down the trail. First time doing that for hunting but it worked wonders.

I have my sled in my car today. I’m killing something this weekend, I just have that feeling.

Only got one day to hunt my draw hunt due to work this weekend. Wanted to wait on a buck because there is still rut sign everywhere. Let a few does pass this morning but couldn’t hold off this evening, never been on a quota hunt, and she will eat good lol
