That’s awesome. Well done!Well so far my season has been a roller coaster: from near misses, to close encounters, to missed opportunities to long stretches of failed sits and self doubt. Sorry I haven't been posting much, this season has been rough on me. Luckily enough the planets aligned for me on opening morning of our anterless firearms season. A few firsts this morning:
Feels good to have meat in the freezer again. The frame pack handled two quartered deer like a champ. Now to get on some bucks. My rutcation buck was nowhere to be seen this year (i'm blaming the weather). I've got my eye on a few (read above: close encounters and missed opportunities), hopefully I can close the deal on one by end of archery season.
- first double
- first full tag out on opening morning of a season
- first blood on my new to me frame pack

Is it healed up where the antler attaches to the head?
Well it doesn't look like a normal antler base that's for sure. Kinda looks like it was stretched somehow then started to grow. I asked my taxidermist what he thought and he said usually a deformed side is the result of an injury to the opposite side front leg. Didn't get the reason because he got a phone call and when he came back we started talking about fishing, lol.
Hip pinch doesn’t exist with the recon or Anderson sling style 2 piece saddles. There is also a lot of versatility in how you orient it which is nice. I’m hunting with a Latitude Method I’m borrowing from a friend (killed my small 4 pt out of it Thursday. It’s pretty comfortable and you can adjust where it sits on your waist and legs however after about 2-3 hour I had to move it quiet frequently to get rid of different hot spots. I’ll try it a couple more sits and see how it does. As far as the recon I haven’t kept one long enough to hunt in for long days (owner 2) but I suspect with minor adjustments you could stay pretty comfortable for long periods. I don’t like the two panel designs if I’m one sticking or rope climbing. They don’t feel as secure as I like when making a bunch of extra maneuvers. If I was just stick and platform hunting it’d be no problem though. At $150 For the recon it’s a nice backup or friend saddle too.2/3rds of the way through my first saddle hunting season and im still really enjoying it. The saddle has become even more comfy. No pinching or any discomfort. Haven't even used the backband since a few early sits in September.
I use an outdoor adventure outfitters saddle by dennis bland. Its the typical football shaped saddle. Just curious if any of you have used any of the two piece saddles like the eberheart sling? Or anything similar and if they are really that much more comfortable?
