The SH Membership has gone live. Only SH Members have access to post in the classifieds. All members can view the classifieds. Dang! I was hoping that buck would have showed up for ya!
Yesterday was opening day of ML here. Had a good sit. 6 slick heads went by, 9 turkeys including one bearded hen and two coyotes. Shot just in front of the big yote as he would not stop moving. Didn’t get to hunt the afternoon as it was my kids final baseball game of fall ball

Two does and one bb went by the decoy but like the other night they wouldn’t get within 10 yards. About 10 minutes left of light a 6pt showed up and thought for sure he would investigate. Nope came in on head side of decoy just like the others did and wouldn’t get within 10 yards (I really need to cut a lane to that spot). Then a couple more real deer showed up and off he went to see them. Decoy back in garage!

Got this guy with a bow on VA public land. I had a trail cam pictures of a really big 8 in the same location I shot this one. When I let the arrow fly, I was thinking this was him. Maybe I’ll catch up with the bigger one during rifle.

I was out all day again yesterday….. skunked! I saw the rear end of one at last light after I heard a grunt not sure if it was the same deer or not. Had a 2.5 year old on my trail cam about 175 from where I was at but I wouldn’t have taken him. A lot of night buck action though!!! I was set up in this triangle strip of cover that is the only strip of cover between two major chunks of wood lots both east west and north south movement. I was hoping for a mid day cruiser. I was set up on the eastern edge of this pond which funnels movement as well. It was slightly warmer yesterday was also thinking I may have a chance at something coming to drink as well. I saw nothing except at last light. I’ve had trail cam pics in the past of shooters funneling through here too. Good luck to all team 2 members over the next several days. I’ve got to work today but then back at it tomorrow and Friday and the weekend. I couldn’t get out last weekend.

I didn’t see anything on last two sits. Doesn’t help that I have a cough that I’m struggling to keep in check. Back out this afternoon for another try tho. One is bound to wonder by me at some point

Awsome deer!!!!!!
Made it out 3 days this week, only hung in a tree twice. Had deer sightings everyday, mostly from a distance or the safety zone (100m from a road, 300m from troops training). Yesterday found some thick bedding in a draw right on the boundary of an archery only/any hunting area. The orange army starts their 2 week invasion today, so I'll be checking/repairing/tweeking gear this weekend and back at it Monday and seeing how bad they have been pushed around.
Finally saw a shooter at last light yesterday. Couldn't get a shot on him but will most likely try again this afternoon. 5 does were feeding on a red oak behind me when the wind swirled and sent them running and blowing. I honestly believe he heard the blow and went to investigate but unfortunately didn't take a direct path and left me watching

So on Tuesday I went back out armed with a ML and of course the buck didn't show and I had does right under me. Then yesterday evening I went elsewhere and only saw two little fawns. I zig, they zag. I zag, they zig. Eventually it's going to come together.
Did a 2 mile boots on the ground recon yesterday. Found some good early season spots for next year, and a ladder stand in an area i was looking to do an observation hunt 
. Bumped some deer on the way out. Plan was to head back today and spend most of the day, until I tweaked my back moving an empty rolling trashcan, so now I'm on the couch with a heating pad popping Tylenol waiting for Monday. Good luck to everyone this weekend.
