TEAM 3 - BARK BUSTERS

I thought it might pop up slightly over 125 as those G2’s look like they may be in the 8-10” range he’s just very high for around here.
 
So I had this doe come by with her tail up last night and then this buck came in this morning checking the scrape a little. You think the doe was just urinating or something or is this some indication of the doe coming into estrous? Im curious what she’s doing with her tail up. The bucks always visit on days when I’m not in the woods. Hope everyone is doing well and gearing up for the holidays...

I have Friday off from work. Was planning to hunt but we are supposed to have blizzard conditions here in central Illinois from Thursday night - Saturday. Friday is supposed to have wind gusts over 50 mph. I think I won't get in any trees....

We'll try again next weekend.

After a day I’m getting buck pictures from where I put my camera after bumping two does and a buck from a bed while scouting this past Saturday. This isn’t the buck I saw but it’s good to see others coming by. Friday will be the first chance I have to hunt but 9 degree with a feels like -11 wind chill I may just have to find something else to do then sitting in a tree. I really don’t have the gear to stay warm in that weather anyway. Who knows, maybe I’ll get out there and freeze a little bit.

I mean, if it wasn't so windy I'd be out. The cold sucks but if you shoot something quick you can just leave it and go get warm in your car.

That's a really nice buck. Your trail cams are in the right place.

I only have to use it a few times a year but that iwom is money…… they run great sales if you wait for Black Friday & Memorial Day. Mine was under 250 shipped. I know it’s probably a stretch for you southern guys

A coworker said it does the trick if he aint sitting in his heated box blind. He said its like sitting in the tree in a sleeping bag. Would be nice to have on rare occasions but yea I couldnt stomach it. Have you killed a deer with a bow while using it by chance? Seems like it would be a lot of movement to get out of and grab a bow without being detected.

Merry Christmas tomorrow Team3! Hopefully we can have some Christmas season magic to round out the season with some more points on the board. Our new late Holiday Hunt begins on the 26th so I’m hoping to get out and try.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I had a Griswaldesque Christmas - my dryer is in need of repair, some of my pipes froze, part of my garage roof was torn off by high winds, and I had a bat in the house last night.

I've got a few weeks left here in Illinois. Hoping to get out this weekend and take another deer. Good luck to everyone else.

I had him gutless method quartered and meat taken in an hour! I haven’t killed a deer in two seasons so I was out of practice. This was the first deer I ever packed out. It was nice! I think I will do it again. The eberlstock m1 frame carries weight surprisingly well and it was easy to tie to the pack. It was a little sketchy but not too bad to ride with the weighted pack out.
