Here’s the public spot I was in yesterday. You can maybe see the scrape under the hemlock I was set up over and which that buck was heading too.
Was out yesterday all day. Went in on public to let things settle on the private tract I hunt. (My buddy the landowner crossbow hunts a little bit he’s not too serious but I wanted him to have the property to himself a couple of days (he would never tell me no even if he wanted too) plus my little
Voice told me to go on a public tract I had trail cams on all early spring through the early fall. I had some good pics of two decent bucks hitting a scrape I found way back in about a mile. I was all settled in. I went the long way in based in the wind( it is gorgeous country.) Anyway, about 10 or so I started to get antsy. I’ve tried to remove most stuff from my saddle and just put my Doyle’s, tether dump pouch on my pack so my saddle stays light. I didn’t like the position I had the Doyle’s so it seemed like action was slow so I started to move it taking the truck-glides out, I made a little scraping noise by accident pssst!!! There goes a decent buck he was coming in to check that scrape I was downwind from!!! Grrrr! What an amateur mistake!!! Grrrr!! I was so mad at myself. He was at least an 8 but not a 2 1/2 year old probanly a 31/2 year old not 100% sure!! He wasn’t a monster but he was a very respectable buck. So then I also get a picture of this big boy I from the private tract I usually hunt and come to find out my buddy wasn’t even hunting!! He went up to his daughters to see his grandkids for the day!! Oh well. Going back in today after I take my daughters to school for an all day rut sit. I prefer to be there by first light but you have to hunt when you can. I’m hoping the rest of you have better luck than me. You have to zoom in on the buck but he’s pretty decent for my area.
If she blows she goes! Good work man!Just taught a young doe a valuable lesson on keeping her mouth shut. 5 points headed our way

Taking off two weeks to take a trip with the Mrs. should be ruttin when I get back and then continuing to kick off in Dec, mid Dec, late Dec, and January on different places I hunt. Y’all don’t give up on me yet. Y’all kill a bunch while I’m gone.
Congrats great buck!!!!! I hunted from the ground this morning & had a nice 2yr old come by in range, had that been a bigger one I’d have been in the same boat….Saddle hunting sacrilege. Sorry team members, well kinda, I took this wide 8 today at just after high noon. I was hunting out of a ladder with a crossbow!!! I wasn’t in my saddle for once!! Sorry team!!
Thanks! I had two other bucks on the cell camera at around 9:30 this am and the stand I was in was maybe 100 yards from thst camera. The one buck I had never seen before. seeing them so close with a potential to have them walk by or be called in kept me from leaving too early. I was going to go to another ladder stand on the same property at around noon but it just felt like something should be coming through where I was at. I’ve shot several other bucks in this location. It’s located where a n-s ridge spur hits the main e-w ridge. Everything coming up or going down into the gorge likes takig along the ridge spur as it’s easier walking and much more gradual than the terrain around it. After I shot this buck, another 8 came by maybe 25 minutes or so later and followed the blood trail that the deer I hit had just left. My point is they wre running again beginning around 9:39 as the rain subsided and the temps kept decreasing.Congrats great buck!!!!!
