Team 3 Thread

Sorry fellas been kinda distant. . . . I had a encounter with the little guy I been after in PA. . . He is literally just messing with me at this point.. . .. . .. . . I've gotten a few pics of him at the tree i was hunting from when I saw him not 20 mins after I left. . . . .

Saturday I'm going to hunt all day in his area, I still don't have his bed pinpointed but I have general idea. . . Not a ton of trees around but I'm going to do my best. . . .

Hope everyone is having a great season, be safe hunt often!

Yea this is my 3rd time in this spot hunting for deer, I only hunt it once a year as soon as its legal to shoot does. I always see deer here, I just finally decided to wait till daylight before I setup to pick a good tree. As soon as I got done setting up the deer showed up. Hope and pray I can find her. I also kayaked in.

I was about 20 yards from killing the big 10 I've been after last night. Right at last light he came slipping by me at 45 yards. Saw 4 bucks including a nice 3.5 yo 8 point last night. All just skirting the edge of my bow range on the same trail.

Need to move over a couple trees to my north and it'll be a 25 yard chip shot

Nope couldn't find her. Tried to get ahold of many trackers with not much luck. Nutterbuster contacted me and brought his dog out and then we grid searched. I appreciate him helping me out. Try again tomorrow. Anyone else getting on some deer?

My buddy shot the buck I was after. Good for him but bad for us

Thats awesome

So who else busted their butts for nothing this weekend? This guy did!
Hunted pretty hard all weekend with not much to show for it. Found a grand total of two scrapes (one being community scrape) and have seen zero new rubs. Did get to watch a young 7pt work over an existing rub on a willow sapling this morning and had a 3.5 yo 8pt slip by me right at dark last night. Even if I had time to draw on him he was just a touch out of range for me.

None of the rubs from last year have been opened back up, and none of the locations that had scrapes on them last year are active this year. Last season there were big rubs and scrapes all over the place. 100 acres of timber all tore up with sign. Anyway, pushing my rutcation back a day. Wednesday is supposed to rain all day here so I'll hunt thursday-monday. See if they kick off the rut in those 5 days

Found her!!! Guy was out this morning and seen a deer floating in the river, he made a post on fb and I got in contact with him. She was 355 yards from where I shot her. I was able to keep the meat thanks to her being in the cold river. I learned that I need to be a little more patient and have better shot placement.

Well Saturday I hunted all day, saw 7 deer total, all buck, 3 shooters. At 445 the big came in and gave me a shot @ 25 yards. I drew and let it fly, the hit looked awesome. He donkey kicked so hard he almost flipped over head first. He bounded twice and slowed to a slow walk, his tail tucked the whole time, when I last saw him he was continuously flicking his tail. I got the shakes soooooo bad after the shot, I thought I was gonna come out of the tree.... I get down check my arrow and it's mostly clean of blood. I'm not sure if it was from going through grass after going through him or what happened. I got real nervous, and decided to look for first blood, and found it within 20 yards and it had bubbles, exactly what I would have expected to see. Well I back out grab all my gear and take it to the truck, I'm thinking this is a done deal. I call my cousin to help me get him out of the woods. Well we trailed him 500ish yards to last blood, but the skies opened up and it poured most of the night. All that tracking yielded no beds either. Called the only dog tracker in the area and he wasn't available. Went back out to "grid" search and check creeks and ponds, nothing. Went out again today and nothing. I'm praying I get a picture and it just a flesh wound, I don't know how it would be but still. I drive near that area on the to and from work, so I'll be looking for buzzards on the daily. . . I really don't know how to motivate myself to get back in the woods right now. . . I don't know how to explain how I messed up everything I saw from the shot on to when I last saw him told me it was a solid fatal hit. . . 500 yards and 3 days later I'm empty handed. . .

Sorry to hear that man, I know how you feel. I've never seen a buck that size but the one I shot at i was on 2 year drought from shooting any deer. Hope you can find him or get some kind of closure. Keep your head up.
