Let’s get after em boys!!!! Post your state or what states you have hunts planned in.
Maryland (Sika & Whitetail hunts planned)
Southwest Virginia (bear & whitetail)

For those that don't know, I'm from the "Tip of the Mitt" otherwise known as northern lower Michigan. All my hunts are going to be in Michigan this year. I hunt primarily along what is known as the northwest 12 here in Michigan (the counties with antler restrictions in place). During the week I try to get out as much as possible here locally after work but I'm lucky enough to be a geezer at my place of employment with enough years in to accrue a decent amount of vacation, most of which I save for deer season. That means 3 day weekends through October and most all of November off. During those times I'm also blessed with an understanding wife who doesn't mind the fact that I pack up the camper and head out of town to other areas for a change of scenery. Post rifle season I pick it back up locally again until the snow is too deep to get into the woods. The last couple of years that has taken me right up to our closer of Jan. 1st.

Again, I hope you all have safe, enjoyable and productive seasons and I'm looking forward to sharing them with you.

Opening day here in Mn. Went with a good friend that just started hunting (he’s a saddle hunter too now). We went to some public land I’ve scouted before and set up on some fresh sign. Couple hours later a group of people come down one of the game trails being really loud and they pushed right though the bedding I found. We ended up packing up and and pushing in further to a different area that looked promising. At about 5:40 pm I hear some foot steps and I’m half expecting more hunters but it was a decent sized doe that stops in the only shooting lane I have. Drew back and but decided not to shoot since she was heading down the trail that leads to my buddy about 150 yards away. 5 minutes later I hear a shot and I get super excited thinking he got his first deer. I tell him to wait until dark before he climbs down. Turns out he missed but I still felt like I did the right thing by letter her walk and a new hunter getting a shot at his first deer.

I feel lucky to be on a team with so many guys from fellow Big Ten school areas. Indiana, Maryland, MN, no football worth watching there. I mean, we also have at least two guys from that school up north. Football hasn't been a distraction from their hunting schedule for a long time. We lucked out boys and avoided Ohio folk.

Our Georgia guy, he will be watching football early season, but come playoffs they choke and he is out, so we good.

We shouldn't have any excuses.
