Team 7 Thread

Hunting this evening at a local spot. Hoping to get something on the ground.

I haven’t hunted but just a few hours in the last two weeks, but I’m headed OOS Monday.

I'm planning on hitting some public with my kids in tow tomorrow evening. Gonna be sitting at ground height for sure, not sure I'll drag the saddle along for that adventure.

I saw my large buck i think I shot last week back on camera, but am not 100% since I couldn't see the side I hit him on.... sat all day yesterday, and only saw 2 coyotes. I went to draw on 1, but the second which I didn't see saw me and ran off taking away my opportunity on the other one.spypoint.jpg20221027_074756.jpg20221027_074655.jpg20221027_074452.jpg20221027_074441.jpg

When I got down and left after 2 hours of light drizzle at 3pm, I noticed all the deer I had been waiting to see were feeding in the yards of the houses on the other side of the powerlines! All private on that side.....:(

My ground sit with the kids turned into a nature hike/scouting trip. The wind was perfect for where I thought we could set up and be successful, but there was almost no sign on the way in, and the acorns were almost gone, actually found a few white oak acorns starting to sprout.

Finally! Point on the board for team 7! Double lunged a doe last night! It wasn't easy and every time I've seen deer this season something has been wrong. Last night, before my Uncles 70th Bday party was supposed to start at 7pm, I went to a little spot not far from his house. I could see the truck from my tree!...20221028_202433.jpg20221028_163501.jpg20221028_163415.jpg

I'm gonna head out for a sit in the morning, supposed to be a light rain overnight into the morning, an 8 degree temp drop and the wind is the same as when I saw that big buck in early October. Hopefully he comes back to that same bedding area from the same direction and I can get up a tree on the downwind side of that.

I 2TC up, with a single footloop, a large popple, cuz branches started at 40', with a pine next to me as cover...
Last time I had deer there I had my platform and knee pad on my back and bow on the ground so couldn't do anything, so this time I switched it up and had just put my bow on the tree and was about to pull up my platform when a deer showed up at the truck! Needless to say I was very uncomfortable as it was looking in my direction and I only could stand on 1 foot! It took 30 mins for it to slowly walk right to me and eat along the way. My legs and feet both went numb because I put my right foot over my left foot, which was in the footloop so that I'd have stability for a shot attempt....

It felt like forever but she finally came out to my strong side....
Oh and BTW I had forgotten to bring my main thumb release too!!! Thankfully I keep a very old finger release on my saddle and just recently practiced with it. The bowmar(yes poaching, I know) nose button was awesome as between that and the sight it didn't matter where my anchor point was.
It felt so good to see the arrow stuck in the ground as she ran off!
In hindsight, I should have got down after an hour while it was still light as it took a long time to find her cuz the blood trail was nonexistent through the black mud. If I hadn't taken that picture of my finger pointing where I thought I heard her crash I'd have spent all night in that miserable swamp!

Went out to some public thinking that I had beat the weather… wrong lol. 4.2 miles sopping wet and decided to sit in this cedar tree just to stop getting pelted by the rain.

I second this!!! It works way too good to take off my bow, but if someone would buy the patents from him I would pay double for a new one from that person. Looking forward to seeing more writeups on here soon since prime time is here!!!!

Sat for 3 hours in the "light rain" that was forecast today and had a young buck parade by at 15 yards. Mister Big decided not to show himself today. I also learned today that my friction hitches get very tight when they are wet.
