If I get out it will be taking my daughter out with the crossbow. Her zeal is peaking currently and I'd love to stoke that fire with a close encounter for her. A shot opportunity would be even better...

I'll be out in the AM. Kinda of an observation sit/throwing spaghetti against the wall.

Skipped out of work to do some scouting yesterday. Didn't find anything super productive but via rubs and conjecture I'm calling that my #1 target buck is still alive. No white oaks located yet. The ones in my yard are loaded, so we'll keep scouting the mountains looking for the magic tree.

Probably going to have to sit out the PM. Still wrapping up our adult baseball season, regrettably due to a bunch of rainouts. Wife is not a fan of hunting all day Saturday then playing baseball Sunday. This may be the last straw for my baseball career. Not a fan at all of it cutting into hunting season but can't skip out on the playoffs. It doesn't usually we've just had a bunch of rainouts. Oh well, adulting and compromise.

The weather says 10° lower high from Wed to Thursday. This is the day if I'm playing hooky right?

Try the grapes / beech this early?
Our temps this weekend are right at 20 degrees above normal. Supposed to be 97 here today. Big temp drop going into next weekend when I have to leave for the conference in GA. I emailed the weather man my hunting plans but he is worthless as usual.

My wife gave my the nod even though I can tell she’s not feeling great. Hopefully I can make it count

The deer I'd been hunting hasn't been showing up til after dark, so I went somewhere else this evening and of course he showed up this evening.... oh well, I'll try again.

Back from camp. It's about 80 but I have favorable wind for a spot I think is between bed and food. I should be able to work in from the NE then cut west to the pinch.

PUMPED to get out there!!

Good luck!

Nice buck @Silvio !

I likely tore my ACL playing baseball today. Never tore an ACL before but it was a loud pop and gave out. Kinda a freak thing I was coming in from CF full speed for a tweener ball, last second trying to avoid colliding with the SS and it just went out from under me.

Sorry team, but the hunting season is not looking good on my end. Sulking with a case of founders tonight, and we'll figure out tomorrow tomorrow.

Got out later than I wanted, about 6 pm while standing on my top stick setting the stand my target buck and a smaller buck came out 100 yards from me. I managed to get the stand set, in and saddle tied off without them ever knowing. Few minutes went by and 2 smaller bucks joined them, was hoping they came my way, but ended up feeding away from me. After 15 minutes or so my target deer left and I watched the other 3 bucks for another 20 minutes before they left.

Always hang the prime spot when it is 3-4 days either side of the full moon. Just dont tell nobody, let em keep thinking the full moon is horrible. Had 2 mature bucks in Saturday evening way before dark. Temp was still 90 but moon was right and barometer was over 30 and bucks were on their feet.
