Team #7

Short one tonight. Enough rustling around I couldn't see too my right/ west to keep it interesting. And make me wish I would have set up the first spot I thought about. Going to try a spot a found last Sunday in the morning, fingers crossed. If it's legal and I have a shot I'm sending it

Oh. Yeah. Of course I got several pictures of a decent doe while I was in the tree. 2 miles away in another river bottom. Figures

Yesterday was a heck of a day. Been having a good buck hitting a scrape in the mornings 2 of the previous 3 mornings, so I decided to go try it. It's 1.6 miles from the parking lot, I usually ride my bike until I'm 600ish yards and walk the rest. It was 50 degrees, overcast and a 50% rain chance til 8 am, then drops to 30% rest of the day and calling for 1/4" total. I leave the truck about 5:30 am, get back in there and set about 6:30. At 7 the rain started... and pretty heavy til 8 and quit. During this break I had a small 8 point come by at 20 yards but he got a pass, about 8:15 the rain started again and by 9 am I was soaked. I stuck it out til 11, but I was soaked and cold, but the rain was finally over, so I decided to leave my stand/sticks and saddle there and go back to the truck for dry clothes and come back to finish the day. Got to the truck changed and a couple friends pulled up, we bs'd awhile and bout noon I decided to head back in. I got on the bike, went 20 yards and it tripped the relay in the battery, only way to reset it is to plug the charger in.... so I took the bike back to the truck and took off walking. Got back in there around 1 and moved to a spot I thought would be good that I've had some luck at in the past. About 3:30 the wind switched, and when it did I figured I wasn't going to see anything, but there wasnt really enough time to move somewhere else so i stuck it out. I didnt see anything rest of the evening, finally got back to the truck a little after 7 and neither of my buddies saw a deer either. I'll get back out next weekend enless anything comes up.Screenshot_20231217-075455_Video Player.jpg

I failed to go out yesterday morning. Just lazy, I was up, just can't seem to get motivated for morning hunts.

Anyway found good trails with decent sign but no luck yesterday. I might not make it out until after Christmas now, bummer

Went back to my mountain area yesterday after church. Plan was to do a scout and hang if I found anything motivating. Made a 2.5 mile loop and 3 of the 5 pins I had dropped in this area had old sign but I didnt find anything I was even remotely confident about climbing on. Eye balled an area I need to go back and investigate though as I expect it may be holding deer. It looked entirely unpleasant to navigate, like if you turned a beagle out on the edge of it he most likely would just sit down and give you a WTH look.

Made it out Sunday morning, no deer moving not even on the roads. kinda what I was expecting but I went anyway. unless the wife kicks me out of the house I probably only have one more opportunity to hunt this season, maybe my daughter will decide she wants to try and make another attempt this season and buy me some woods time

Still up by 7.

I've only got 4 days left, may cut out early tomorrow. I really really should just to be a turd at work but we'll see. I've got at least one more hang. Saturday afternoon/ evening is out, the rest is undetermined.

I thought I'd go hunt public where I grew up this year, but never did. Still might but it'll be 100% blind. Bummed my private down that way fell aaaalllll the way apart. Guess that's gone. Oh well, we'll see what the future brings.

Great work so far y'all, let's try and finish strong!

Taking the wife for a private land late ML hunt. She hasnt ever killed a deer so maybe we can get her one. I hope to get a chance to go hang again for a particular buck. It is stuck in my craw that I had him at 15 and couldnt shoot him.

Was hoping to get out today but 2nd year in a row getting the flu Chistmas week. Cold front after 3 days of rain, this morning should be fire. Kids were sick now I have it. Took a break to do some trapping last week, that was fun, but ready to get back in the trees. I just like it up in the canopy. Just not my year though. Getting to the point I only see a few more possible hunting days on the calendar.
