I'll take a paralyzing spine shot over a long possibly painful gut shot and long possibly unsuccessful tracking job!

My first saddle sit this morning. Pretty sure I Could smell a buck while setting up. Once I was in the tree heard one blow. Then around 8 had a buck coming in looking while I was putting my jacket on.. possibly the same guy being curious? He pegged me in the tree and ran off. Around 9 saw same size deer on the other side working around. Good chance it was him. Was trying to shoot a turkey again later, but didn't work out. Called it quits at noon. Was tired and cold. Not sure if I would have shot that buck given the chance. But good chance I would have sent it.

Rainy all day with fog rolling in and out. At 3:30 cell cam shows bucks moving on hillside headed my way. I said what the hell, and dress up for a wet sit hoping they'll make their way past me. Well they didn't...
Temps dropping to low 30's overnight so heading out again in the morning.

Halloween morning 6 point.
I got in tree at grey light, which is late to me. I was in that tree I posted pic of where I'm 32 feet up. He came up trail at 8am, nose to the ground and walked alongside tree at 12 yards. He never knew I was there. He bolted when the arrow hit and stopped at 30 yards. He looked back, probably wondering what hit him. He started to stumble, did a drunken circle and dropped, 36 yards from my tree.

Great job! Nice buck.

Got a call from my buddy tonight. He’s a real good bow hunter (far better than I am) he called me with the “I need help” which in our friendship has never happened other than me calling him. So I rush out right away I get there and he’s explaining the shot to me and I agreed with him and his opinion of it being bad. We took up the faint blood trail just to see if it started to puddle or stayed drips look up and 50 yards away there he layed. I cannot believe it didn’t turn into a bad situation. You can clearly see in the picture what I’m talking about. He had a real nice encounter with a big wide 8 just after shooting this guy so we dressed him at the house to keep the coyotes out of there. I still don’t see a reason why he died so quick. It must of been in the femoral but there really wasn’t more blood in the cavity than usual vital shots??? Idk at least he expired quickly!

Has to be. I made a bad shot years ago. Broad side, but just in front of the rear leg. Didn't pass thru. He went about 100yards and was dead. I don't recall excessive blood either. Maybe they just loose blood pressure and don't have the ability to circulate blood?

Went out this morning. Winds weren’t horrible but it warmed up a bit. Got skunked. First time I’ve gone out and not even seen a deer in the distance this year. I was a little surprised. Thought I’d at least see something

I got tomorrow and Tuesday penciled in to hunt. Supposed to be windy tomorrow. I'll see how it plays out. Will at least be out in the morning.
I saw two studs this morning on our way to church. One in the proving grounds, and the other walking a grassy shrub area off the highway. Hopefully I see one in a tree tomorrow morning. With in range.

Eyes on 9 deer yesterday from an hour before sunrise until last light but just never had a shot. If there ever was a year of being frustrated this is certainly it

Hang in there. It's gonna pay off any moment.

Didn’t see much tonight but I got in a argument with a buck on my way out it was getting dark fast I seen him across the field coming my way he looked big I hid in the side of the woods and I couldn’t get to my call in my pack so I tried to do one snortweeze and he responded with one over and over in the end I was able to exit without him spooking
