Tether length

Yeah Tether sells there’s 8’
Also would it be safe to run their eye to eye prusik on the bridge to make it adjustable?

6' is going to get a little short if you hang from bigger trees.

Mine are about 10'. I prefer to wrap it twice around the tree; keeps my tether from falling down when I unweight it. But I also use a carabiner instead of girth hitch. That is not a recommended best practice.

My tether and linemans are both interchangeable at 10'. Six feet is too short for my liking. So of the two, I would go with 12 feet.

6ft is all I have ever used and most times I could get away with a 4 ft tether.

I have trees that need more than 6ft so I’m going 9ft of 9mm ultra tech (with 5inch splice on one end and 2 inch splice on the other) for both tether & LB

They will be identical for interchangeability

@Nutterbuster @TwistedLimb For you guys running 6ft tethers, what are the lengths of your lineman’s belt? Same or longer?

I just measured and my tether ended up a exactly 6'3" and my lineman's at 8. It is all I have needed so far, including comfortable lengths of tail left over to make a stop knot. I suggest you find a large diameter tree and try your ropes. You will find that trees at the extremes (less than 8 inches and more than 24 inches) are difficult to climb. Particularly so if you like to hunt high, I am usually hunt at around 28 - 30 feet. Like most things about hunting, it depends in the area you hunt and your style.

My homemade linesman/tether combos are all 10 feet. We don’t have a lot of big trees, but it seems like the best tree to be in is often a massive, old cottonwood. Even my 10’ belts are sometimes too small and I have to just skip huntin’ a place.

I bought a 12' one. I cut it down and made a spliced bridge with what was left. I think 8' is about perfect for a tether. I used 6' last year and there was a time or two I wished it was just a smidge longer.
