you'd need it sized based upon rope diameter and firmness, and that will change when the rope gets wet

there's tons of diy solutions that are adjustable, for instance, i just tie a part of poacher's knot (just the wrap part....i guess it is a constrictor knot) and then wrap the tag end with duct tape to make it stiff....it slides right up my rope to do the same thing and i can grab the tag ends and pull to tighten it

Yes , ohm tether locker works very well. However lots of diy solutions that work just as well. If u do a search on here I’m sure u will find lots of information on the subject.

Rubber washers have been my go to this season. A couple of them will cost less than a dollar at a hardware store.

So essentially with the rubber washer undo the knot of the tether slide the o ring up the rope to cinch the tether?

I prefer the tether locker. I've used the the gear tie but the roper doesn't seem to flow through the quick link as well as with the tether locker.
After Gregg Staggs video, I need to try to pull the quick link with the amsteel of the locker

Looks like $12 of clutter. People commonly use castration bands , rubber washer , clothespins , gear ties. I personally use a gear tie and just wrap the majority around the rope and leave about 3” hanging out to wrap on the rope.

I started with the gear ties and they worked ok. I had two major issues: they kept breaking on me because they’re being bent at the same point over and over, and I had to unwrap them with each move, then wrap them back on.

Then I tried the rubber washer. It worked ok for me. When I went to come down I had to feed it back through the quick link so that it was out of the way for the pull down. Not bad, and certainly cheap.

Then I saw the idea with the hitch pin clip and tried that. It worked well once I found the correct size of pin. I made up a piece of spliced Dynaglide for it similar to the Ohm. Really my only complaint was with the clanking while setting up since it would often hit the quick link, and then stowing it since it was a bit bigger.

My family got me the Ohm for my birthday and I really like it. It’s smaller than the hitch pin clip and doesn’t clank either. Love the spliced cord attachment and the fact I can leave it tight on the rope as I rappel down then it will pop free when I need it to. It also packs smaller with my rope as well. Hadn’t even thought about using it to wrap my rope since I use the dropout bag but that’s also a good use.

It’s not real expensive and for what I do, it seems to work the best for me so well worth the price.

I swear to god people on here will find a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist. Spend your money however you see fit.

I’m not sure exactly what problem you’re saying doesn’t exist. Keeping the tether tight to the tree while one-stick climbing with a quick link is a fairly big issue as you move up. Being able to easily and quickly release that tension is also a big issue. So yes, the problem does exist and yes there are lots of solutions to that problem.

I agree with @CharlieTN. My tether would slip if I did not use John E. method attached above. I don't use any type of link and still get slippage if weight is taken off the tether. If I stand up to readjust I want to make sure it stays in place.
