Tether option?

I am very familiar with the bowline variations, they just not to my liking, but also excellent options. I've gone back to my custom tubular webbing tether and running it the rest of the season. I am sticking with the scaffold knot on a connector for my rappel rope, if and when I use it again.

Very good. My comment was simply a if using a bowline... etc. etc.
I’m currently running a bowline+Yosemite but I think I’m going to swap that for a spliced/sewn eye.

Also looking for a fix to this issue. I have been testing my OpLux tether and any time I take weight off the line it slacks and slides down the tree several (6+) inches. I’ve heard to wrap it twice around the tree and haven’t tried that yet, but wouldn’t I have just been better off sticking with HTP or Predator if I’m going to need twice the rope? Or do those ropes have the same problem?
Don't wrap it twice around the tree, run your tag end through your loop twice. So go around the tree and feed the end through your loop, then instead of connecting it to your bridge run it back up through the loop again, then connect to it. That or make a girth hitch with your loop, then feed the tag end through it.

Girth hitch solves any movement issues. Even in an imperfect tree. I sat 12 hours in the tree pictured, tether never moved.

I’m not recommending using a crazy tree like this, just stating it worked for me.

Would this method come loose when you wanted it to if you rappelled down? Also could you use a screw link if you were one sticking.

100% correct on both keeping a long enough tail on the knot and this will not work for rappelling, unless you are coming back to it the next evening or morning, but I still would not use it for that purpose. It's just another option to consider.
OK, I see my answer , thanks Bwhana! So what would be the answer for a 1 sticker who rappels?

For 1 sticking, at least for me and several others, you can use the scaffold knot in conjunction with a screw link or Petzl triangle. You can use your rappel rope as the tether on the way up and while hunting (either left dangling or up out of the way), then let down the rope and rappel down after the hunt. Just be sure to tie your pullup rope or a some rope to the screw link to pull the rappel rope down once on the ground. Others have indicated they prefer a separate tether as opposed to an all in one rope. Either way is fine, just personal preference.

I use a separate short tether for one stick climbing and hanging. The primary reason is that I always seem to be hunting a lot in wet conditions and I want to keep my rappel rope as dry as possible (rappeling on the stiff, frozen rope is not fun). By hanging on a short rope I can keep my rappel rope in the pack until its needed and its only on the tree getting wet for a couple of minutes rather than a few hours. It's also easier to dry a 7 foot tether than a 40 ft length of rope.

:) thats the way I use my tether, will experiment with the scaffold knot.

thanks for the help!

Joe, didnt see your post until after I replied.. that's new for you since the last we talked.. doesnt get cold enough around here to worry but, makes a lot of sense, but will keep that in mind for rainy weather

I wish it would get cold enough to freeze anything here for a change! We have been down to 22 one night so far and was up to 66 yesterday. Nothing like nighttime rut in the south due to the heat!

Careful what you wish for . . . I was hunting in 30" of snow the 12th of November. It did warm up and the snow subsequently melted/settled but it was difficult hunting for a week there.
