Tethrd Predator Platform Manufacturing Concerns

I received my Tethrd predator platform today and noticed a potential manufacturing defect on the platform. For some reason there is a section of the platform that is ~40% thinner than the surrounding material. If you look at the pictures below you can see that the cast aluminum should be ~0.524” thick but it is only ~0.306” thick. [((0.524 – 0.306)/0.524) = 0.416 ==> 41.6%] I am a little concerned because I am not sure what factor of safety (FOS) Tethrd designed their platforms to. Has anyone else received a platform with a similar issue? The manufacture date on the platform is 07/01/2019. If you recently received a predator platform, I would suggest inspecting it for the same issue since it effects the strength of the platform.

That looks like an incomplete pour when they casted the aluminum, like there was air or a foreign material preventing full cast-filling. TBH that platform should have never made it into a box. Somebody wasn’t paying enough attention. I’d be calling Tethrd and raising a bit of hell, because that’s negligence IMO. I just ordered one a few weeks back, I’ll keep my eyes peeled on its construction. Thanks for posting this.

Another reason I'm going the DIY route. In the haste of trying to fill orders, I wonder if any saddles made it out the door with defects..

There is never and never will b a perfect organization or business. Yes they have had a few growing pains but the people at Tethrd are good people. Contact them and if they give u bad service then jump on here and give them crap. But I would handle this privately with them first.

Have them grind the other-side down for ultimate weight savings!!!

Thanks for sharing.
Serves as a reminder that Everyone needs to inspect every piece of equipment that is used.
Tethrd will take care of you no problems.

This is the exact point I am trying to get across. There will be a ton of new saddle hunters going into the woods this year and I just want to much sure that we are all safe. I know we can all get excited when we receive new gear from companies after waiting weeks but we must take the time to check for any defects that the company may have missed. I am trying to be transparent so others are aware of the issue and take the time to inspect their new gear before climbing 16' plus into a tree.

Thanks for sharing. I always tether in before I step onto my platform in addition to my lineman's belt for added safety.
