So I know I’m going to probably get blasted for this but I feel I was treated poorly by a company that is advertised as “for saddle hunters”. Being new to this whole saddle hunting craze I loved the thought of it. Loved the looks of the products Tethrd was selling. I placed my order for a mantis for Christmas. It arrives December 27th. Due to swing shift at work and delays acquiring a LWHC for platform I am unable to use it until January 4th. I hunt from it the 4th, 5th, and 11th. During all 3 sits 5-6 hrs a piece I constantly fight the saddle riding up and pinching my hips to where the longest I can be still is maybe 15 mins at a time. So after seeing the phantom come out I contact Tethrd’s customer service on the 17th about returning it and just getting credit to put to the Phantom that will fix all these problems. Customer service representative tells me after I send them pictures of the saddle that only three hunts and inside the 30 day refund period there’s virtually no way I won’t get at least just credit to swap the saddles and pay the difference in price but I have to pay for the return shipping. No problem I box it up and ship it out and UPS tells me they will receive it Monday Jan 27th. So by Jan 29th I haven’t heard from Tethrd so I contacted them just to be sure they had received it. At this point I get told oh yea we got it there was way too much wear and tear and we’ve already shipped it back to you. No correspondence whatsoever, had I not contacted them I wouldn’t have known til it just showed up. I’m not putting all this out here to do anything other than inform someone else that may be looking at purchasing a saddle to be wary of doing business with a company that treats its customer like They’re doing me a favor by letting me spend $200 on a product that apparently can’t hold up “wear and tear” of 3 hunts. So now I’m just going to sell the mantis and pause on doing business with Tethrd until I see a change in the way they treat their customers. I really feel like the entire process I was treated as though I was just a problem for them to deal with. The whole situation has left a poor taste in my mouth. Basically the just created more businesses for Aero Hunter and OOL after dealing with this whole situation.

I have yet to encounter a small business that couldn't do something better, or more consistently, but you're in a tough spot here amongst their friends, calling them out without sharing pictures, trying to reach them privately about the disagreement, etc.

Good luck with that approach.

I can only imagine how frustrating it must have felt to go thru a situation like that. I hope you are able to resolve this situation and find a buyer for the mantis (I bet it will sell fairly quickly).

On the flip side as a small business owner I also realize how detrimental a critical review can be for a company. Best of luck and I hope this doesn't sour you to any quality products Tethrd puts out in the future.

I’m not intending on calling them out I just don’t want someone new to the sport as I am to end up in the same situation I did. But I will add some pictures of the saddle if that helps. I just don’t think anyone should have to go through what I have with them in my opinion.

Attaching photos to show the saddles condition and purchase date. I’m not trying to offend anyone just putting my experience out there to inform others that may be new to all this.

I can understand that but I also feel with any business it’s important to promote customer service. I wasn’t looking for my money back just credit towards the phantomand Pay the price difference or at least some of the credit back but my main irritation came from them just shipping it back and not even contacting me to discuss what they saw if it’s condition.

I’m branded as biased and do want to sound critical. I would maybe message or email Greg and Ernie directly. The mantis was not my favorite saddle but the phantom is awesome. I know they have full time employees handling a lot of stuff and they have probably had countless request to return new mantis for phantom even though there isn’t anything wrong with the mantis. Also if you can’t be comfortable for 15 minutes in the mantis the phantom isn’t going to be a walk in the park. Something about your setup needs adjusting

I know going in most people on here are going to blindly support Tethrd and it is what it is. I just am simply offering my experience with the company. My main issue with it was...
1. They never even contacted me when receiving the saddle about anything in the process and just shipped it back. Had I not been proactive in contacting them I’d just came home and it been in the mail. And once they contacted me I replied asking for the tracking ID and still after receiving the item back today still haven’t seen a response.
2. The saddle was still well within the 30 day return policy when I contacted them about the return.
I’m not trying to upset anyone this honestly just the experience I had with the company and felt it was worth sharing

Looks to be in excellent condition too me...maybe just "too used" to pass it off to another customer as brand new...

Sounds like a frustrating situation, especially since you voiced the fact you wanted to keep your money with them and put it towards a phantom...
As many friends as they have on SH, people should be able to separate personal and professional relationships. SH is supposed to be vendor neutral, so you should feel comfortable and share experiences good or bad with ANY company freely.

Hey Michael. I understand your frustration and to clarify I wasn’t the one that saw your saddle in person and decided it was “too used” so to speak.

We can’t exchange a product that shows obvious signs of use, and then try to sell it to another individual. How would you like to pay retail for something and then get a used product? Im sure no one would like that.

In your email exchange, you were told “Obviously it’s hard to see everything through pictures. If it has only been used 3 times and was well taken care of, I’m sure it’s probably in good shape.” This doesn’t mean that it would be refunded for certain, but that there’s a good chance that it would be returnable.

I’m sorry that you had an unpleasant experience. Hopefully in the future Tethrd can earn your business again.

I don’t doubt that I still have a lot to learn about my setup being I’ve only sat in any saddle those 3 times but I also feel like my main point before this was to mere
Does that mean it looks good or looks bad. Who is being ballsy?
i took it to mean I was being ballsy to try and return it but if there is wear and tear I can’t find it. Now full disclosure I did find where the bridges bury ends are poking out of the Amstel but have also seen videos where Tethrd representatives address that this is common on the mantis and is in no way an issue.

Literally just post it for sale on ArcheryTalk. That thing would sell very fast I bet. You’ll get your money back or very close.
