The lack of Drey

Good day,

I'm new to saddle hunting and am looking at getting a Dryad Drey saddle, but was wondering why I don't see them recommended as much on this board. I mostly see Tethrd and Cruzr. This makes me wonder is there something wrong with the Dryad saddles, or are they just very niche? Please let me know why these are not recommended as much so I can figure out if I'm about to make a mistake.

Thank you for your time.

I think at this particular time those are the two hottest selling saddle manufacturers. The "hot saddle" list cycles a bit as time goes on. I'd add some other current up and comers to the list here but I don't want to leave anyone out. Everyone has different experiences with how a manufacturers saddle fits them.

Speaking strictly from my observations I believe you see Tethrd mentioned a lot due to their extensive marketing excellence. Tethrd gets a lot of the entry into saddle hunting sales.

Cruzer on the other hand gets a lot of shout outs because it seems to be a saddle that's comfortable for a wide range of body types in the more traditional saddle style. I also get the impression that a lot of Cruzers sales are from guys who started with other manufacturers saddles (often more than one) and for one reason or another kept trying other options until trying Cruzer.

These are simply my observations from watching posts on the site and classifieds sales. That said, I have never owned or even sat in a Cruzer saddle so take my observations with a grain of salt.

The search function here works pretty well. If you search for "Drey" you'll find a lot of posts regarding them. A few links are attached below.

The Dre and JX-thing are probably the most comfortable options out there, but they solve a comfort problem that for me personally doesn't exist. At the cost of some more fiddle and loss of versatility I am good with a more streamlined saddle setup. I hunted more than I ever have last season, basically 4 weeks in a row in the rut, and comfort was not an issue for me. My patience and focus gave out long before my comfort.

Comfort is generally important as you age or have health issues like arthritis.
The JX 3 is great if you have bad knees. The Cruzr XC is great if moderate hip pinch is an issue.
The drey is great is for comfort but does seem to have a lot of fiddle factor.
Many other saddles are just fine if you have none of the issues just mentioned. We are all different.
I can sit very still for a long time in a JX 3. For me and my knees I will take a JX3 80% of the time.

I read It got a lot of praises from I think a meet up guys did in Tennessee. I believe several guys added one to their line up after they tried one. I hope to try one one day. But I am stuck on dump pouches. Not sure how I would hunt with out them. Dray kinda takes that away.
Like everyone has said. I doubt two guys on here run the same set up. Something will be slightly different from hunter to hunter. So you got to find what works for you.

Also the drey is one of the newer entries. Give it some time to build a following

Come to the light, the JX3 tree saddle light..............
Don't be afraid, you will sit from dark to dark very comfortably, no fidgeting, be able to snooze when you want, no dreaded hip pinch, no back aches, you can shoot 360° around the tree with any weapon, bow or gun.
No platform required, only a ROS, no sore feet, no knee pads required, no sore knees, no tired legs from leaning as you can sit all day, built in pack frame for carrying all your needs. No getting into “saddle shape” as your Lazy Boy at home does it for you. Buy once, cry once.
Come to the light, the JX3 light...........

The Drey on a battle belt w/ a linesman is about as minimal as you can get. Fold back the bottom and a dump pouch shouldn't be an issue depending how large or full it is. That said, I got mine at the end of the season so it's still kinda new.

I have the mutiny belt with the drey. It's comfortable but I don't have anything to compare it to. If I'd change anything I'd get the wider leg sling and I'd probably get the Killdeer instead for a belt. Op and mattman81, we can probably figure something out if you want to try mine before you buy.
