I think just the opposite about buck fever. I think it’s because we’re tapping into an ancient primal feeling that’s long been bread out of us since the hunter gatherer days. But it’s still there and we tap into and feel it in the moment. For me it’s a rush that can’t be matched.

I love watching the woods wake up. I just hate that the disruption of my sleep schedule wrecks my body and weekend. I might just be lazy, but the difference in how I feel is substantial. I actually tend to come down with a cold if I do it too much.I am surprised at the number of people who hate morning hunts. I would hunt mornings over evenings any day. I love shooting deer in the mornings; you have all day to track, recover, butcher, etc. I hate shooting deer at last light; tracking, recovery, and gutting in the dark with a headlamp SUUUUUCKS...
I am a very sweaty person, so I would rather walk in the dark and climb when it is colder, than have to do it during the hottest part of the day after the sun just beat down on everything for hours. (And this is in a "cold weather" state)
I used to think tracking was better after morning hunts, but now I like it better at night. Blood shows up way better by flashlight than sunlight. Dragging a deer out in the dark also feels more satisfying to me for some reason.
Without blood, sure, quick visual scanning for deer is way easier with daylight, as is finding friends and dogs to help track.
