The No-Shame Thread

I think just the opposite about buck fever. I think it’s because we’re tapping into an ancient primal feeling that’s long been bread out of us since the hunter gatherer days. But it’s still there and we tap into and feel it in the moment. For me it’s a rush that can’t be matched.

I am surprised at the number of people who hate morning hunts. I would hunt mornings over evenings any day. I love shooting deer in the mornings; you have all day to track, recover, butcher, etc. I hate shooting deer at last light; tracking, recovery, and gutting in the dark with a headlamp SUUUUUCKS...

I am a very sweaty person, so I would rather walk in the dark and climb when it is colder, than have to do it during the hottest part of the day after the sun just beat down on everything for hours. (And this is in a "cold weather" state)
I love watching the woods wake up. I just hate that the disruption of my sleep schedule wrecks my body and weekend. I might just be lazy, but the difference in how I feel is substantial. I actually tend to come down with a cold if I do it too much.

I used to think tracking was better after morning hunts, but now I like it better at night. Blood shows up way better by flashlight than sunlight. Dragging a deer out in the dark also feels more satisfying to me for some reason.

Without blood, sure, quick visual scanning for deer is way easier with daylight, as is finding friends and dogs to help track.

This is one of the wildest things I've ever read. Lemme see if I have some Kahlua to put in this coffee before I try and unravel it.

Don’t get to philosophical trying ....you have to put all parts of what I said together. Lol!
It’s the same to me as having an adrenaline dump AFTER you’ve had a fist fight as after I shoot a deer or pig. I guess it is the primal vibes coming out from days past.
Oh well let us know what you get figured out!

There is no substitute for baby wipes.

I grew up on the original Star Wars, and they are still some of the best movies in my opinion. The other six... Not so much.
The Lord of the Rings are great!

The Princess Bride is probably my favorite movie of all time, and my wife and I sat and watched it just the other night... With no kids around.

I love to be in the woods, but I'm a lousy Hunter. One deer in eight years of trying.

I’m always looking to kill deer in other places! Maybe I can help. You can watch Princess Bride while I figure the deer out! I’ll even let ya tell everyone you killed it!

Im ashamed that I’ve been taking advice on here from a buncha people who haven’t killed a single deer, barely go hunting, are too lazy to get outta bed, and are scared of the dark.

that was kind of the point of the thread. At least selfishly for me. If you don’t want to die, Don’t take climbing advice from people who haven’t established themselves as a competent qualified person. And if you want to kill deer, well... you get it.

but for real, I feel like we’re just a bunch of soft weenies floating in @cmatthew80 ‘s bowl. Let’s go hunt and kill critters boys and girls!

I think you're mixing up your goofy thread with my goofy thread. Yours is the let off some steam one. Mine is the open up and be vulnerable one.

Speaking of, I love the smell of lavender.

Now I feel ashamed for sleeping in and feel like I need to defend myself :) I wake up way too early for work and my days off are the only time I get to sleep in.
