The No-Shame Thread

I'm not a tough guy, bada$$, or any kind of macho. I still get a little 'ascared camping alone and walking out in the woods in the dark. I don't fully relax until I am at hunting height. It's not rational but the sound of a riled-up pack of yotes or a bugling bull puts me on edge.

Hunting is my least favorite part of deer hunting. Maybe I'm a little ADHD but I can't handle all day sits. Some of my sits are shorter than @Nutterbuster videos. I love scouting and planning and trying new gear but I don't love sitting. I wish I was skilled enough to still hunt.

I appreciate all the cool things we can buy now but I miss the DIY stuff. It was more fun.

I always felt guilty when I went hunting when my kids were young. Even worse when I spent the day in a tree and did not see anything.

I have an unhealthy addiction to boats...

I own:

-'56 Lyman
-'56 Buehler Turbocraft
-Sunfish
-4 windusrfers
-6 canoes
-3 kayaks
-2 paddle boards
-8' Inflatable mercury dinghy
-3 surfboards

Edit, this is bad....I forgot about our actual boat we regularly use:1984 16.5' Sea Nymph Fish and fun Outboard that I completely redid the entire interior.

I feel for you.... So what do you have to sell cheap! Kids cut into the amount of free time for sure, but your hunting is not over unless you want it to be. Congrats and wish you guys a healthy and memorable birth experience!

Bow and accessories, stands, rated ropes out the yinger i dont use, oplux tethers, platforms, clothes, saddles, rubber boots.

It can all be replaced by my 1948 win model 70 and my fire boots.

The model 70 replaces pretty much everything I own....2 safes full of rifles and its the only thing that has been in the woods in....20 years...

Ya I have been working on it for a few weeks. Its got 30Govt-“03” on it and finally took it to get calipered. Had some ejection issues and i am still trying to track down a screw for the bottom but it seems to shoot fine without it. I replaced the cheap scope my grandpa always put on nice guns with a vortex. Bought some ammo for a million dollars (thanks democrats) and took to range. I even shot several rounds I have my grandpa reloaded in 1997. This will be my first time hunting big game without a bow. I have never rifle hunted but with new found frustrations of saddle hunting and getting stuck in the “saddle hunt or die” mindset, im gonna break out of my rut for the rut.

Whew. No skelingtons in these closets I see. Well since we’re in the confessional...
I too hate leaving me family to go hunting. I feel good and bad every single time and I contemplate stopping hunting every season.
I am a beer snob. It’s craft small brewery or nothing. Don’t even try and come in my house with corona, we aren’t friends at that point.
I drive a big ole lifted diesel and sometimes I roll coal at annoying priuses at stop lights.
I think veterans should be able to get weed where it’s available.
I’m also a bowtech snob. Fight me.
I secretly hate my hunting partner.

I too love craft beer. I’m supposed to be getting some DarkLord from 3 Floyd’s this week or next. I hope your hunting partner isn’t your wife or something haha.

Youre going to love it. I have a newer model 70 in 300win mag with a bunch of cusomizations done to it that is my go to....

But I also have a new in box 1960's model 70 featherweight in 6.5 swede in my safe. Technically it's my father's, but no one can bring themselves to shoot it...

Same, just not as vast a collection

1990 Baja 210SVR
1995 Sea Doo XP
2 Kayaks

I hate that JB is p elect.
I also feel bad hunting without my kids.
I do hunt a lot without my kids.
Wished my wife liked the outdoors more.
I don't sit to pee like a girl does.
I do wear crocs.
I do spend way to much money on trying new saddle stuff.
I do like having a separate bow season(@Nutterbuster).
I use Amsteel for a lot of stuff.
I almost never follow manufacturers instructions or recommendations.

Thanks man. I delete my comment as welll..

Camo crocs or solid color? I choose black.
Don't hunt wearing them. Just like the easy slip on and off and mine are the no hole one so my socks don't get wet going out feeding the chickens at 530 in the morning before heading off to the office. They are tan. Kinda a manly color ya know. LOL

yup, they're my slip ons for yard work aas well...easier than pulling on the boggs, or rubber boots.

I am a terrible wing shooter, and can't blow a duck call to save my life. I shoot 30 yard and in birds with an imp cyl not because I'm a "let them work" guy but because I just can't hit them further than that. Sometimes on the cold ride back to the boat ramp the water in my eyes isn't the wind stinging them, it's my feelings leaking.
