The Quest for the Perfect Index Release

I’ve tried several different releases over the years including hinge, back tension, thumb, etc. I picked up a used Like Mike from AT recently and it’s been my favorite so far. You can still punch the trigger but it has no travel so it’s harder to anticipate it and I shortened the strap so that the trigger is buried behind my second knuckle. Couldn’t do that with my Little Goose.
 
Im not saying I’m completely sold on it yet but the Carter Whatever has been pretty good. It comes with several different springs to assist you with dialing in a tension that works for you. I wanted an index style that I had to literally squeeze through to help with my target panic issues. For practice I use it but for hunting I’m still liking my Hot Shot Impetus with the tension adjusted a bit stiffer for me. I just wish the Hot Shot had a shorter barrel.
