The things we find in the woods...

I want say strange, interesting though, finding old home sites in the very back woods of Bankhead Forest, every time I just have to look around and think: How did they make this work. I have found dry, hand rock lined dug wells and a dipping vat in BH forest.

Nah, I'd rather not catch a weapons charge and worse than that, possibly lose hunting privileges because I'd prefer to carry while bow hunting.

It's not as much people I'm concerned about around here, I've been shot at but it wasn't intentional.

I always felt pretty safe in the woods until last year when a bear came right to the base of my tree. I realized then how little I'd be able to defend myself if a bear came up and munched on my feet while in in a saddle. Too far to reach with a knife, tough shot with a bow, I suppose I could use a broadhead to poke at it. With my pistol I'd be able to at least get a few shots off

Smack them in the nose with ur bow and they bail out of the tree

Found this while hunting on mainside MCB Quantico.
No, I didn't kick it...

Oh yea. Was riding up a dirt road with my dad on Vandenberg AFB up in area 6. Up by one of the old Minute Man sights. Across from one of the Atlas Missile sites. We are doing a little road scouting and he is paying attention to the Manzanita and brush looming for blacktails. Told him to stop, middle of the road is what looks like a very large rusty Mortar artillery shell. Dad throws it in reverse and starts backing down. We put some marking tape on the road with a note. Went back to the SP shack and told them. We got to ride up and watch EOD from a distance detonate it.

It use to be an ARMY base during WW2 and there was a ton of buried ordinance around there.

While scouting for turkey last year about a mile back on public I found a ladder stand made from PVC. They used 4” for the ladder supports and 2” for the ladder rungs and seat. Strapped to a tree with a ratchet strap. I took a pic and sent it to my dad, who is a plumber and said “PVC- not just for plumbing anymore”. He got a laugh. I deleted the pic though.

I bet that thing was noisy. Did you attempt to go up it?

Over the summer I pulled up on this mess outside of a tree farm that allows hunting. I reported it to odfw and the tree farm. I thought it was someone dumping some cwd deer carcasses. Ideas? Screenshot_20210106-160441_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20210106-160357_Gallery.jpg
