I had arrow this year look similar but suspect mechanical didn’t open until it hit ground .
Hope fat just wiped off blood

I found a blood clot in my case which in my limited tracking experience is consistent w muscle / not fatal.

I think you gotta wait until at least 3 to start. That gives him 8 hours plus gives you a couple before dark.

Where did the shot hit? I know high but you can still have a low enough exit from the tree.

Good idea take a walk back to the truck get some water and make a few calls to get some help to look for him early afternoon and then if your worried about coyotes then head back to your stand to wait. You being in the area will prob keep them away but if not you should be able to hear them if they get around the deer then you can move in. But let him lay long as possable.

This and the advice @redsquirrel gave is solid. Sound like he's still in the general vicinity. Back out and come in with the wind to your face later.

White hair? If you got white hair that's a good sign. You exit was lower.

White hair is likely a lower exit. Don’t worry about the yotes. Give him time and you increase your chances of recovery if it’s a deadly shot.

If you hit high and got that kinda hair I'd back out till after lunch. Then come back with a dog. Even my brother in law's untrained lab found deer for me.

If you are sure you got high, and have white hair on the ground. That's good. Means you went right through the kill zone.. If you hit low, and with that tell on your arrow, it's not looking good.

I stick with my original suggestion. When you come back see if you can find a blood trail or at least a trail where he kicked up leaves. If you don’t ease over to where you last saw him.

I’m on the give it time side. White hair is good, so is finding some blood. Just don’t push him.
