ive been a hang and hunt hunter for several years. I’ve been using a loc on windwalker and lonewolf sticks but very interested in the kestrel saddle. Is it comfortable enough for all day sits?

My simple answer is YES. With that said everyone’s opinion will differ. But I would assume most Kestrel owners would agree that all day sits are comfortable and easily doable. There is a learning curb for everyone in the transition from loc on, climber to saddle. Comfort levels and adjustments. I am confident that most who make the transition are very pleased with the outcome.

Yes. I find it more comfortable than even a Summit climber which is known to be comfortable. Instead of sitting on your rear and putting weight into your lower back all day, you can shift weight in the Kestrel by putting more weight into the back band, or leaning your knees against the tree, or straddling the tree.

The only downside (and some will disagree with me on this) is that in very cold temps I find it's not suited to adding layers below the waist. You can wear insulated bibs, but they need to go on before you climb up. For garments like the IWOM or HBS the Kestrel is not really compatible.

Any saddle is something your going to have to get used to. Your not going to be able to sit in it all day right away. There's a period of getting used to them but you have to stick with it and it will be more than worth it. The best description I've heard is it's like a new pair of shoes. It may hurt for a little till it breaks in. Then it will feel awesome. I've been at saddle hunting for 5 years now. I find it hard to sit in a climber or lock on now. I feel totally exposed. You want a comfortable saddle buy a Guido's web. Most comfortable stand I've ever sat in but also bulky. I love the kestrel. I also have a modified Anderson sling that I can fit in my pocket when rolled up. Once you get the hang of it you will never look back.

I got my kestrel late this season. My run & gun set prior was lone wolf sticks & a millennium hang on, super comfortable, but on all day sits you either stand or sit & takes some movement to do so. I used to fidget a bit & my lower back would get tight from same position for long periods. I definitely prefer the kestrel & long day sits are just fine once you’re adjusted right..... Just get one & if you don’t love it , sell it. You got time to get it figured out before the season.

I usually put in at least 10 all day sits a year in my saddle. This year I was only able to put in 1 all day sit in my kestrel due to my health and work. I had 2 3/4 day sits as well. I have no doubt that I can do as many all day sits as I want in my kestrel.

I just got my kestrel and hunted in it. Love it. I have 4 sticks and an assault 2 myself. I love my stand so im gonna use stand in close spots and saddle when im scout and hunt trips. Or really long walk hunts. You wont regret buying one and even if you dont like it you can get your money back selling it

I traded a Windwalker for a Limit the first year that the two stands were offered. Been using the same Limit ever since. Went to the Kestrel this mid-season mostly for safety reasons. Thought it would be better than my rock climbing harness.

I've found the Kestrel to be more comfortable hanging (with a back strap for support) that sitting on the Limit. I have 5 Ameristeps on a strap, but actually prefer using my Limit stand for a platform. In my opinion, it makes the hang much more stable and comfortable while providing better shooting opportunities. Plus, it's really nice to be able to stand straight up without any weight on the tether. And, I'm able to use the Limit's seat to take off/ put on my spurs when I use them. I'm to the point that if I'm hunting more than half a mile from my vehicle I'll use the Ameristeps. Less than half a mile I'll use my Limit.

All of the above is just a way of me saying that your light weight Windwalker will make a great platform for a Kestrel.
