I’m sure a lot of guys on here have hunted with a trophyline ambush and was wondering what you honestly thought about them. I’m thinking about trying a used one as my first saddle partly because they are 1/2 the price of the other brands. Thanks for your opinions.

Buy yourself correct size Used Mantis for your 1st saddle ,
There always coming up in the $150 Range.
Dont cheap out on your life support.
Get quality Tether and Linesman ropes.
Oplux with Beal and 3D printed Figure 8 Prussic tender would run you would run you $60 and tie your own knots(There’s small) From Doublesteps.
Climbing sticks API or Hawks there’s always deals from $80-$150 for a set to get you 15’+

Thanks for your welcome. Being safer is one reason for trying a saddle. My uncle took a very bad fall from a hang on stand last year. He was very fortunate and walked away with two severe wrist fractures a fractured ribs and vertebrae. I’ve hunted since I was age 12 but probably only use a safety harness 5% of the time. I was going to buy a nice safety harness that I would use consistently. That’s when I found the saddles.

So I haven't used either personally, but I would probably try the Treehopper recon sling based on anecdotal reports around here.

Just my 2 cents...if you havent bought a saddle yet, dont worry about the price as much as the fit (there's a reason some saddles consistently sell 1/2 price on here and some sell for sticker price). if the saddle doesnt fit right i promise you will not enjoy hunting as much. maybe put some feelers out on here for people in your area that have some different ones you could borrow/try (doubt many people would care during the off season). i would sit for at least one hour. go in the woods climb and sit/lean a couple feet off ground level. see how still and comfortable you can be. it takes a lot of tinkering to get them just right. i started saddle hunting post rut laast season and was able to get my mantis to a bearable level of comfort but ended up buying 2 more and selling the others during this off season until i found the kestrel fits the best. its an investment just like your bow or rifle. you can definitely kill a deer with a mickey mouse gun, but sometimes its not worth having a misfire on a booner. In the long run whats an extra $80 when the buck of a lifetime saw u squirmin around?
