In what season/weather, hunting where, for how long? And do you count pack? That transforms from warm to cold...prob a touch over 6 pounds with a ros on drillin' land in early season. But once I'm hauling in that much or more in warm clothing the calculus changes a bit.

Just basic saddle hunting needs. No packs, clothes, extras. Saddle, ropes platform and sticks

Gen 1 JX3, 2 EWO pouches, LB, Combo Teuf 8mm tether / rappel rope, 1 chopped LW stick w amsteel aider, ROS, redundant RC harness 18.5 LBS

6.5 lbs for this. If I climb a preset, I can drop 1 pound for the throw weight and line.

2.5 lbs for this. Total 9.0 lbs or 8.0 lbs without throw weight.

H2 saddle with tubular web bridge
30ft 8mm rope
Full bury amsteel lineman’s rope
Mini shikar with scout platform and amsteel aider
Bow hanger daisy chain with cam jam
Rope retrieval rope
Long amsteel loop just in case
3 carabiners

Right at 10lbs

16-24lbs depending on saddle (hybrid or recon), platform (platform or ROS), climbing method (bolts or one stick), and how long and where I'll be hunting (accessories that depend on those factors).

Food/water/clothing add 0-20lbs.

Saddle hunting is a little bit about weight for me, but more about having the entire kit fit inside my shoulders and hips, and being able to adjust the angle of my back while sitting. If someone made a 16" wide x 28" deep lock on for less than 500.00 that didn't weigh 15lbs, I'd probably buy it and use it a fair amount for short sits.

Well since hurting my foot this year and being out of a saddle..

Windwalker, all in. I mean everything, including small platypus of water and granola bar. Bolts, drill, doyles, gps, compact binos, rangefinder, linemans, tether. I wear my RCH in, but thats less than a pound.

My saddle setup was actually quite a bit less....

18 pounds including backpack and all other incidentals (headlamp, tree strap/bow hanger, etc).

I just read where you only want essentials: predator platform = 3 lbs, 12 treehopper steps with ropes and 2 storage pouches = 5 pounds, saddle = 2 pounds, ropes = 1 lbs....around 11 pounds.

My base weight at this point is about 14 lbs.

6 lbs LWCG .5 with a diy backpack suspension

6 lbs climbing sticks (modded heliums)

2 lb tethers, pull up rope, hooks, havalon

Saddle is worn weight. Clothes, water usually added to pack weight dependent on the need to scale up or down.

I can walk all day in this setup. Mass is but a small factor. I've bounced all around and this is the best balance of weight, bulk reduction, and functionality I've achieved and its not particularly close. I may shave some significant weight on the sticks depending how some future developments go.

Everything I bring in the woods to hunt except clothing and bow is 17.6 lbs ....saddle, pack, Tethrd platform w/10' of 1/4" amsteel and two squirrel steps , spurs, kill kit, 40' oplux madrock, D-ring and biner(rappeling)...2-10' oplux 2-biners 2-Kong Ducks for Lineman and Tether...bow hoist, Vortex 1800 rangefinder, bow hook, 6' amsteel daisy chain for gear hanger small pruning saw...17.6 lbs ...I am looking for a pair of CF Spurs as to cut a couple more lbs and end up somewhere around 15 lbs on the money.

Diy beast sticks are 7.2 lbs with my aider on bottom step. Can get to 16.5 with 3 and over 20 with 4.

Platform is predator xl at 4 lbs

Trophyline ambush is 4.5 lbs loaded. Has my lineman’s belt and ropeman in one pouch with tree hanger strap. Has my tree tether and ropeman in other pouch.

I didn’t include backpack though.

My total weight right now minus backpack is about 15.5-16 lbs. That’s a huge upgrade over packing my climber and bag around.

Nexts steps for me would be 1) testing out lighter saddle options if there are any and 2) comparing weight of .5 or 1 stand to see how it stacks up in terms of weight and comfort vs my saddle set up.

Also have more metal to do more diy sticks and may go with 4 20” beast knock offs and order the lightweight steps from Dan O to see if I can hit 1.5#’s per stick. Shouldn’t be hard since my 24” are at 1.75ish.
