Been trying different strap on hooks and such for places where you can't screw into a tree. Haven't been real happy with them. Then I noticed the tag end in my tree strap. Perfect!
I'm positive. No metal objects, screws, nails, Spurs into tree. No cutting branches or vegetation either and everything is covered in vines. No flagging tape or reflectors. Pretty much you leave it as it was when you got there. Can't even collect sheds or arrowheads because that is considered property of the refuge or wma. But there is flagging every where and when you shine a light there is reflectors everywhere. So it really depends on the warden and how strict he wants to be and what chances you are willing to take.kenn1320 said:Doesn't stick or wedge inbetween limb/string? In MI we can't use anything that penetrates the cambium layer to facilitate climbing. I take that to mean screw in bow hook is acceptable. Are you sure they aren't allowed in your state?

FYI - The cambium layer is the inner bark. In other words, if you're screwing into wood, then you've penetrated the cambium. In most cases a screw-in bow hook would NOT be acceptable. The only instance where it would be acceptable is if the bark was so thick that you never penetrated the wood.

I know we're getting choosy here, but I think he meant that he can use a screw in bow hook because it doesn't "facilitate climbing".
After my first night in the saddle I think you have thre right idea using the Ropeman instead of a Prussic knot for your tree strap adjustment.Been trying different strap on hooks and such for places where you can't screw into a tree.
