Never personally touched one but I have a hard believing the thread he pulled apart with his hands would hold up to a back and forth between a number of abrasive barked trees.
Have to remember that when he broke it, he was introducing force on either side. When the animal is running away it's free spooling from your end. My old ones I'd unthread and drop the tracker out of the tree or outside the blind to spool away.

3rd day hunting only 1 doe and 4 Turkeys went by. Really hot heat wave all weekend. I guess the deer are beding in the shade and not moving much.

I’m so disappointed… I read the title of this thread and thought it was about tracking deer with a self bow - I thought I’d finally found my people!

I just received mine today, took a few shots at the target. The line is very lightweight, but rather have it break instead of being heavy and affect the arrow flight. It didn’t seem to affect my arrows at all. Nicely made little piece. Since I’m using glue on points with wood arrows a small piece of gorilla tape did seem to hold it in place.

I can’t see using it all the time but I can see it being very useful in the rain. It will definitely ride in my bag opening day.

Edit: I’m going to buy this flat pack duct tape and cut it in half, easier to carry.

I like it so far I only used it last weekend. The only thing I don't like is hooking it up to the arrow all the time. I'm hunting this weekend with a chance of rain so I will probably use it.

Just had a chance to use my new trad tracker shot over a doe at 10y!! She dropped I watched my tracker string go over her back. She looked back and walked away! Didn't know what happened! Gotta Love traditional archery! The close shots will get you some times!! At least with the tracker you know you definitely missed!!!

So I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the functionality of the string. Help me understand…. It seems to me that the string would have to be a half mile long to be effective. How does the string not get snagged in all the thick brush that a deer is going to charge into when he’s just been shot? What happens to the string if you have a good pass through shot and the arrow lodges in the ground or a tree? How do you manage the length of string from the spool to the connection point - isn’t that prone to getting snagged on things?
