Tree suit noise mods..

I dont have that exact 1 but a diy 1 i made of smooth tubing that made some noise....I wrapped the vertical posts in vet wrap and fixed the problem..... it'll wear off eventually but easy to replace and easi on the wallet
What is vet wrap?

All suggestions (other than the one to go love myself, haha) are welcome. Thats how we solve stuff.
Important to offer suggestions that we have done ourselves and know the results.....my platform is made of round tubing so may behave differently than the platform we are talking about.....the vet wrap works with 5/8 stainless tubing and also unpowdercoated 1x1x1/8 aluminum square tube....it does wear but easy to visually inspect and rewrap. I have yet to have to rewrap my stuff with over a season of use. It's very cheap and since u are ordering from Dano anyway u might as well throw a couple rolls in the basket....Ive found tons of uses for it....the thicker the wrap the better the sound deadening and it gets tacky with use and in some situations that tackiness is beneficial....bow grip, aluminum canoe yoke, etc....

Keep everybody up to date on what u try and how it works....it seems that this squeak is a pretty common issue...that's atleast 3 or 4 different posts that I've seen about it

All I have to offer is my original never squeaked with a can of rustoleum on it. It was steel. The aluminum one @Weldabeast made for me never squeaked with bare aluminum or with vet wrap on it. That seems to me to indicate the issue isn't the design or material. I haven't messed with marks new stwnd, but I would take an educated guess that it's the coating.

I wrap a lot of stuff in vetwrap. It's never done me dirty. I've also been lucky in that most of the platforms people find noisy have never given me an issue. Not sure where people are buying their magical noisy ameristeps or squeaky ambush stands, or treestands that creak in the cold. Only platform that gave me grief was a predator that liked to transmit morse code if I so much as breathed.

I've found that strapping the excrement out of whatever I was standing on, wallowing on it for a few seconds to "settle" it, and then hunting from it usually works well. See if you can jiggle the squeakies out maybe.

First coat of rattle can bedliner is on. I used an abrasive pad to take the shine off of the paint and then prepped with alcohol before applying. Initial thought is it doesn’t want to bond to the existing paint and scratches off pretty easily. Going to let this settle and cure a bit more before making final judgement. It is 100% the paint. If we could buy them in the raw and apply whatever we want to over the top that would be the best solution. Or just have the manufacturer paint them in something different.

I tried a few things. I then decided to try sandpaper on the finish. Im up 10 ft and its silent right now. No expensive mods needed. Just sand down all contact surfaces. Not to bare metal but a good amount. Silence...

Once you get on the platform if you put your foot close to the tree and give it a couple small jumps to really set it I wasn’t able to get hardly any squeak out of it.

So my main practice tree is big!! And a locust.. it still squeeks but like 25% as much as it did. And I've been doing the jump trick for every set since i posted. The smaller tree was silent. Im going to keep working with it another week or so and see what happens

Point is, it still squeeks on certain trees under max strain.. not close to perfect yet. Im disappointed that something i paid over 100 dollars for takes this much work to make it do what it is designed to do. It obv wasnt tested in its final conception

Hey guys ive been following this thread with much interest. I bought a treesuit platform and i really like it and was determined to make it work. I have tried all the suggestions from sanding to bed liner, different paint, vet wrap, step anti skid tape etc. It all would work partially or temporarily. So today i decided to put the sheet metal screws in the posts and bingo no more squeak nomatter how much i moved around on it.

I figured out that I wasn’t properly setting the platform. I found that if I set my foot against the tree and gave it a couple pushes down with all my weight the platform would slide down the tree and really lock into place. Curious about the screws though, how many did you put in? How long? On which side of the teeth did you put them? Pics would be helpful!

Mine does not have the teeth in the posts it was bought in February and the posts are smooth but i used 4 - 1/2 inch long self tapping sheet metal screws on each post and spaced them from top to bottom

Thanks for passing that info along. Good to know what works and what didn’t.

I tried it out on some trees that are likely candidates for hunting, really gave it some oomf close the the tree and it was rock solid. Didnt budge. No noise. So im happy once again. Im curious if there might be a way to epoxy or weld a piece of aluminum to "cam it down" i know that is not part of the original idea, but i think that may make it the best of all worlds. Maybe a couple screws up top, set it initially tilted upward, cam it down and use a 2nd cam strap to hold the bottom tight to the tree. Another bonus, it fit right in a small backpack along with a large water bottle and several other items..

I spoke with Mark today.
He REALLY prefers that guys don't do any major mods on the tree suit, like drilling posts.
If you have issues (with ANY Treehopper products), call him to discuss it.

Have we locked down a solid solution for the noise yet? Just bought one and am suppose to be getting it from @iamcorey this week. He bought one too but sold it after experiencing the noise.

Good grief, no reason to add screws! I fixed my Treehopper Tree Suit with a little sandpaper and cammo paint. The original coating has too much gloss. Just rough it up a little and hit it with a matt finish. Did I mention that it's crazy light!
