Unfortunately I think I made a mistake buying this strap. For the life of me I can not get it tight. I am beginning to think it's a . Any one with ideas or pictures of how you feed the strap through the buckle before I throw in the trash thanks for any help

Did you email Treehopper? He may have a vid for you.
No. They have some pics online I tried to duplicate and one video just regarding getting it tight but not the feed of the strap. Everything else seems to be EWO ocb. Thanks

I tried to highlight how I "believe" it should be routed, I've never actually used the treehopper strap though. this seems to match what the diagram in the previous thread illustrates

Appreciate it. But too much fiddling with this thing. Honestly not worth the effort. I like the steps but I would not recommend this strap

I think I have it working. But not a fan and not overly confident about standing on it. I may pick up either a ratchet strap or the EWO one

I have the EWO style with the hook and like that I don't have to rethread it, but after rethreading it a few time it's started making more sense how it works and I'm much less hesitant about it. I'd spend a few minutes rethreading it before ordering a deferent one

I'm just not sure if it's the tree I'm trying it on but doesn't want to stay locked at times. Bark is "deep" bottle brush tree.

Sometimes if mine is too tight it cams, but wants to pop back open. if it's too loose it will stay closed but feel loose. getting the tension right on an OCB is a bit tricky at first, I usually cam mine over 2-3 times before I'm satisfied that things are right

Once you get the hang of it, I think you’ll like it. I’ve hung everything from squirrel steps, platforms to one of our Helo loc-ons with them. I’m a fan of them.

From visiting their site, Treehopper offers the OCB in three different formats. Just the OCB buckle, the a strap sewn to the D-ring, and with a "safety J" that can be clipped to the D-ring so the strap doesn't have to be retreaded each time. I have some steps and have considered getting one of these to try a ROS......but I would for sure get the 3rd option so once it is set up, I don't have to fiddle with it in a tree. On a different SH thread of the same basic theme, I saw a video and diagram where the OCB was thread correctly.

I bought the cheap boat OCB off of Amazon and cut the steel hooks off of them. Now they fit over a button or on the legs of my DIY treesuit platform. Never have to thread the buckle

I did not like OCB straps for years. Finally gave one a try on my TreeHopper ROS steps and don’t mind it too bad. HOWEVER I am not putting a lot of weight on them either using them in a tree. I’m leaning heavily into the saddle or sometimes sitting in it and just put enough pressure on the steps to tip toe around the tree. Using it like this I don’t mind it. I will not use the OCB to cam down a platform and expect it to hold it tight. That’s originally why I wrote them off to begin with.

I bought a similar style OCB from EWO for my squirrel steps. It works perfectly under my weight and I’m 245-250. I’ll be releasing videos on it soon.

Looking forward to viewing your video on the OCB and steps. Do you use a platform too....or just the ROS?

It’s not the Treehopper style, but I snagged a few pictures of one of my OCB’s threaded.
