How does the TreeHopper Recon Sling work for large individuals? say 6'2" 300lbs? Will it be comfortable for extended sits? Or is there a better saddle/sling for big guys?

I would say it would be great for you. Email Mark and tell him your size. He will probably recommend a Large. I’m 6’3” 205#. I use a small for warm weather hunts and a regular for cold/layered clothing hunts.

He does sell a Large size Recon.
Order one and try it out. If it doesn't work out for you send it back for a refund. Mark is extremely easy to deal with. He goes above and beyond to make a customer satisfied.

They offer 3 different sizes.

The regular fits best for waist sizes from 34- 35" to 44- 45" small for waist sizes below 34" and a large for waist sizes above 45".

the recon is one of the most comfortable saddle/slings I have tried. As a matter of fact I have only had 1 saddle that was comparable to its comfort. It’s very comfy and I am a husky bitch.

I ordered a Recon yesterday, just curious, I hear so much about its comfort what compromises does it make that it isn’t the go to saddle for more people?

That's a good question. I really can't explain why saddle makers keep trying to reinvent the wheel. The basic concept of the original Anderson was genius, but what it lacked was an active bridge, suitable belt, lineman loops, or molly loops.
The Recon solves those weaknesses, it's affordable, its made in the USA, and it takes only a few days to get one. Its super comfy and light, too.

Yep. Definitely light. 1lb 5oz and packs down to nothing. Also if you where it in you don’t even feel it. I set in up on my lower back for the walk and cinch the waist belt down. It doesn’t move

The only real compromise that I find is that if you flip the panels for comfort (see Allegheny Tom ‘s video), then dump pouches don’t work as well. I have just moved stuff from dump pouches to my pack. I think it actually makes it more comfortable to not have anything on the saddle anyway.

I ordered a large the beginning of the week. Should be In any day now. I am 6' 3" and 265 so i will let you know how it goes. Btw i am a 44 waist but wanted to err on the side of comfort. I tried a phantom but it felt like it was a size too small.

Thats one of the nice things about the Recon. The straps can easily be flipped back and forth in order to see which works best for you. It doesn't take any tools to do it and doesn't damage or permanently alter the sling.

Yep, unless you splice an Amsteel bridge and prussic to the bridge plates like I do. Still, it’s not that big of a deal to undo one side and flip the straps and plates back over. Then I just re-splice one side. I’m happy with your flip on my regular Recon, but can’t decide which way I like better on my small. I’m about a 35” waist (but no butt), so I’m at the extreme end for both sizes.

I just got my recon sling in this afternoon! Used a sit drag and rch last year. Mark isn't just a good guy to do business with, he is psychic. I ordered a large with rope plates. And then I got to reading on here and decided I wanted the web plates. Decided to wait and see how I liked it and maybe get another next year. Today I got my large, with the web bridge! I am very pleased and amazed at how comfortable it is. I know I only sat in it 30 minutes but it beats the sitdrag already. I actually flipped upside down and stayed in it. Leg loops are ok but I don't think I will use them. Way better than one sticking in a rch.

It took a couple of hangs at ground level to adjust my bridge to my desired length. I did flip the plates and found that it was easier to load my dump pouches with them flipped. I also removed the leg straps added plastic side release clips and attached these to the molle and bottom panel to keep it all organized until attached to my tether. Second in comfort to my diy fleece, but, way lighter. And Mark was awesome to do service with!

Oh yeah I am 6'1" and weighed right around 260 when I ordered. I ordered the regular. And thanks to Keto I've lost 15 lbs.

I contacted Mark through email, I am very interested in getting this and trying it out, to compare with another one, as I am a short/stocky guy. Will pipe back in when have more info to share.
