Treestand Suspension systems

Anyone care to double check me? The load lifters are a good two or three inches below the base of the stand. I don’t think even with a big or little tree that it would hit right? Also I think even camming the stand it should hit?

I say send it

Well, ended up with the kuiu carbon frame and suspension. Can’t speak a hunt with it yet but so far it’s awesome. I didn’t like how the LWCG straps and belt felt sloppy on me even cinched down. Total weight with stand, 3 sticks and everything I carry in, including water is 21 pounds. I’m pretty happy with that.

Used 8 120lbs zip ties to attach the stand to the carbon frame. I’m betting it will hold up. Time will tell.

One think that bothered me was the fact the suspension would be hanging off the stand blowing in the wind. I feel like with how stiff the suspension is, it won’t blow much.
What does the frame do?

Because deer season is over for most, after using this stuff has anybody decided what the best solution is for a .5 stand over the stock stuff, TX5.. Kuiu… or something else, I’m pretty sure instead of buying anything new this year I’m going to keep what I have and put the best suspension on it, and a few other things..

Exo shoulder harness. Whatever belt you want.

The questions are:

1.) do you care if a suspension is hanging from the bottom of your stand or not?
2.) are you ok with unclasping a pack to remove the stand at your destination tree?

At least, those are the questions I had to work through.

#1 No I don’t care about that.
#2 Not really, I could load the .5 on my Stryker xl but for this stand I want a dedicated suspension that stays on it at all times, I leave that Stryker pack loaded with my Ambush and bolt stuff all season.
I have an extra Kifaru duplex belt here, I thought about buying the TX5 system and switching the belt out with my duplex belt, I really like the pull forward design of the cinch straps or whatever, I’ll have to check out EXO like Kyle mentioned, I‘ve never owned an EXO product.

Got a link? I've seen you recommend this in the past. When I check Exo website all I can find is the hipbelt.

The K2 used a shoulder harness. K3 uses individual shoulder straps. It's a semi-custom operation and you may be able to work something out with Steve Speck (owner) for a harness.

But...I'd look into a K4 frame. It looks really smart, and, although I haven't a ton of experience, what he's talked about in the changes he's incorporating over the K3 align with my experiences in what's worked for frame pack comfort. Like, to a t.

I can't say how well the stand and K4 pack will pair. One thing that kept me from going to an EXO is the velcro access to the meat shelf. In hindsight, I think I could have made the K3 work well as the frame and paired it with my 14L assault pack.

Q#1 matters to me, why I'm using the Pop Up 28 (with Seek Outside belt) right now. (Still need to give the Exo a try.) That frame/pack fit the stand best.

But, as you aren't concerned with Q#1, idk.

I have the Backwoods Mobile Gear Duplex/Newplex mod kit. Thought I might run load lift to my sticks. And a belt (Exo K2 for K3) with a lumbar pad (Seek Outside). Have those components, but I like the removable frame pack, so I've yet to try.

I think I sent that one before I finished typing.

Anyway, I wouldn't discount the Kuiu. It's a good suspension and priced well if you wait for sales. For hauling a stand and sticks, it's plenty.

I’m ordering one 14” stick right now like I talked about earlier, I’m on the fence about a Kifaru Bane pack for a dedicated pack to leave on that stand but I would like a lid also for my Ma Deuce so it would pull double duty and it’s on sale which is a plus, and then some sort of new suspension system, it’s a want not a need, like all of this stuff I guess, I have 8 months… but TX5 has 12% off that ends in a few hours lmao.

I use the Kuiu suspension with the frame and it’s awesome! Kinda wanna try the tx-5 version but not sure I like the clips

Yea I’ve been doing some research through old posts… I don’t use my stand much, most of the time I just use my Ambush, but that’s my only 2, platform/stand I use, I like less stuff but want stuff that is good and exactly how I want it if you know what I mean and the factory straps work ok but I think with a better suspension I mite carry it more often, I would like to bow hunt more next year if I have time then, decisions…

I'm sure folks that have actually used it will chime in, and should. But it has some deficiencies to my eye compared to the Kuiu suspension. I'd stick to what you've got, personally.

Yea, I’m trying to be good this year with money and gear. I don’t mind the bulk of the Kuiu system and I button it up so it’s not flopping in the wind.

I bought the tx-5 suspension. I threw it on my stand but haven’t actually used it yet. First impressions were they used cheap hardware. All the plastic clips and buckles just seem cheap. I actually changed out the waist buckles with the lwcg buckles.

I’m holding off on the TX5, I will keep an eye on the classifieds at Rokslide for a deal on an entire real pack frame, Kuiu, Kifaru, Exo, I know those will work and be comfortable, I got screaming deals on both my duplex light and tactical frame, by the time I piece together this with that what am I saving, screw it I know I like Kifaru and mounting either the Tactical or Duplex Light to the .5 should be simple and then I can get the correct torso length I need out of the short stand, I will rip a bag off one of my frames sometime and make sure it’s possible.
