Turkey Chest Rig

I havent felt the need for a sit pad in recent years, the ground has served me fine through a number of birds but I am pretty mobile. This was my first chest rig year and I really enjoyed it for a running around somewhere that you have access to a truck, camp, or house in case you need a change of layers etc. I kept it pretty light with a couple of pot calls, 2 strikers (just basically one spare) 2 diaphragms and a crow call. Plus a knife and a pair of 10x42s. That was about it. I also have the marsupial and really like the organization it provides. I would like to get a bear spray holder or something next year to hold a box call

Nomad box call holder works pretty well and has a little pocket for a small piece of chalk. Better than my mystery ranch bear spray holder…

The marsupial multipack which used to be their fishing pack back in the day

I have an FHF bino pack that I use for deer hunting

Marsupial holds decent size binos? Or no binos for turkey for you?

It will hold compact 10x42s pretty well but the zipper is loud without any lube (I used bowstring wax) and there isnt a dedicated bucket like FHF. Not my choice if I am interested in heavy glassing but for turkeys its perfect cause I dont glass 1/4 of what I do for deer

Yeah my Amazonian zipper is loud as heck, but I left it open at the top a lot. Wax didn’t even help mine…

I keep thinking the FHF chest rig gen 2 will go on sale or someone will list one in the classifieds, but they must be pretty good cause neither seems to happen!

@gcr0003 ive been seeing that on my searches i like that layout with pockets out front. Seems like a bit more storage than the Fhf rig. But easily fixed with a e4 pocket in front. But then again idea for me is to bring less lol

Could you draw a bow with that out front? Or is it not as big as it looks
Shot with it on a fair bit this afternoon with no contact. Was shooting a 58” hybrid trad bow.

The FHF box call holder or possibly the expandable bear spray holster?

Also, never had any contact issues with the bowstring when wearing a chest rig.
I like the idea of a bear spray holster because I do bear hunt and regularly frequent areas with lots of bears and travel out west. Would be nice to have it do double duty

I picked this one up at Cabelas before season. So far I really like it. The side and box call pouches all have molle attachments so I can remove everything but the range finder pouch and use it this fall.

Bringing this back around - barely used backpack (was thankful I had it to carry rain jacket and water) but other than than chest pack was more than enough for what I actually “needed”

I did add bunge to the molle underneath the chest rig and then extra buckle straps for sit pad which was helpful. Probably could add left side pocket to harness for more organization

The hydration pack idea I had for back of harness seems great if you’re not going to access it all the time. Would be a pain to put on/take off everytime you needed something

Just had my MG hydration pack delivered, like the layout and it was the biggest that I could find between FHF, Kuiu rig and MG.

Fit is great, seems like it’s slim, hugs body and I as long as I don’t have to continuously get things from it, it’ll work well to carry extra layers, food, water etc and have all the calls, binos, etc in front of my in chest rig

Really liking this stuff! I bought the THP turkey vest this year and I loved it. Buttttt being a guy who doesn’t really use anything other than a mouth call if felt a lot overkill. Having more room lead me to carry more stuff I feel like.

You guys must be tougher than me because idk how you don’t use a seat pad. I “slowly” run and gun but I still need to be able to be super comfortable and still for an hour or so and don’t think I could do that on the ground.

Can’t hurt bringing a chest rig and a chair haha
