Seeing stutters in local fields for more than a week on a daily basis. Birds in western NC are still flocked up. A friend witnessed actual breeding in his field this week.
Thanks sir.Congrats!!
This is my exact setup!I use Longbeard #5 also. I run mine through a Stoeger M3000 with a Carlson Longbeard choke tube and it’s plain sick. Have to shoot it like a rifle to 30. Throws a very useable pattern to 65 but turkey are meant to be shot in the face at very close range.
I waited till 30 minutes after full sunrise then hit him with a fly down cackle while beating my hands against my leg (little trick I use on close roosted birds).
I'm able to consistently produce sound, but have a long way to go to make it sound decent.
a buddy of mine said the same thing.... that's a relief. practicing a little each day - esp in the truck driving around. My toddler thinks it's a riot@kelly.jayp just keep practicing! Keep in mind that all wild turkeys don't sound the same. I've heard some hens that sound absolutely awful if you compared them to competition callers (lol). On many occasions I've heard what I thought just had to be another hunter calling very poorly, only to have a hen round the corner. Calling doesn't have to be pretty to be effective.

Get a push button call ... simple and sounds good . I d rather one call we’ll then ten calls half wellok - so I hit Academy Sports and picked up a set of decoys, a Primos mouth call that I can actually make crappy sounding calls with LOL, and also grabbed a Primos slate and box call to start. I am slowly getting the hang of the slate and after trimming the mouth call I'm able to consistently produce sound, but have a long way to go to make it sound decent. Been watching Tony Ruiz you tube videos - very helpful. Was good to see video one was getting over the gag reflex haha - definitely resonated I also grabbed an owl locator and ordered a piliated woodpecker locator. All htat's left is the Stoeger - which should go down this week after investing in some wife brownie points over the weekend. She think I'm insane with this mouth call LOL

@Bwhana has me nearly talked into a 3020 and going with TSS - it's compelling for sure when you think of weight savings / lighter kick and still have the devastation of the TSS. But man that **** is $$$$$$$ $45 for 5 - I want a gun that can do anything - so I'm going back and forth in my head - what I like about the 3500 is the ability to change the cartridge sizeUnless you feel that you’ll shoot 3.5’s I would get the 3000. I find the 3” kicks plenty hard
The tss is appealing but like you said $$$$. I don’t waterfowl so I choose the 3000 with walnut furniture and I only turkey hunt or run buck if I’m trying to pack kill hogs off a feeder. Either way I think You’ll be satisfied. I love my Stoeger.@Bwhana has me nearly talked into a 3020 and going with TSS - it's compelling for sure when you think of weight savings / lighter kick and still have the devastation of the TSS.
