Ultimate One stick

What are most guys doing on the aiders. 2 or 3 steps and how far apart. In past I have done my aiders pretty long but see that could be a problem with 1 sticking it.

I went with three steps at 15" spacing and with normal clothes it's fine but found any heavy closes for winter and I have a hard time lifting my leg up that far. Three steps at 15" is perfect for me to reach the bottom step from the ground when I initially put it on the tree as high as I can. I've ordered a double step with a sewn in three step aider at 12" and another scout that I'm going to put on one of my cut down LW sticks for heavy clothes.

So what does the paracord wrap do other than look cool?
The reason for the wrap is the coating on the scout is very rough and it makes the edge kinda sharp so when I grabbed it for climbing my hands got sore. I learned that the very first climb.

Gotcha

Just received my one stick and I’m blown away by the quality. Excellent Job Dano!!!

I thought he was going to make PFG an exclusive just for us...

LOL... j/k. It's a sharp-looking stick, isn't it? You'll love it!

I am going to wait to order when they come out with the option for the monarch platform on top. From what I was told is the option is in the works.

You can place your order for it now and in the notes specify that you want the monarch. That’s what I did (I asked dano and that’s what he told me to do).

Received mine about a week ago, and absolutely love it. Been up and down the tree a few times, and it works as advertised. Paired with some squirrel steps for ros, I’m not sure how this combo can be beat.
That's my thought too.

I went with a 12” stick and 20” spacing on a 2 step aider. This is not a complaint, but if I could do it over again, I probably would have gone with a 17” spacing on the aider. 20” will be absolutely fine for early season, but I can see it being a struggle with layers on during late season. I may actually reach out to DanO and order just a bottom step and aider with smaller spacing just for late season.

I had this same question. Is the measurement you order from dano pre weighted? Meaning, does it sag another 2-4” once you put your boot in it? Could someone measure theirs while it’s stretch out and compare them for me?

I ordered a 15”stick with a three step aider, 15” spacing. Wanted to keep my step distance the same. More steps, less distance for heavy clothes. May only use that 3rd step on initial move. Still waiting for it to arrive.

There’s a spot in the EWO store, climbing stick parts, page 3, last item, where they will do an aider swap with you for $20.

Thanks! I saw the exchange option on the EWO site and contemplated it, but I think I’m really going to like the longer stride in early season. I’m going to give it some time/practice... and if it proves to be a little too much, I’ll either do the exchange or order a separate step and aider set-up for late season that I can swap out if needed. I saw a video on the tube with someone who ordered the same set up you mentioned (maybe this was you?)... but it looked like a really thought out set-up. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer when it comes to 2 vs 3 step aider as long as you get spacing that is comfortable.
