Ultimate One stick

I am only 5'6" on a good day, so I went with 12" stick and 2 step aider at 18". I reached out to Dano and asked about how to measure for the aider. He suggested to go to a wall and left your knee up as if steeping into an aider and measure to the bottom of your foot. He did mention to take in consideration wearing bulky clothes for the colder hunts.
I also went with a 2 step aider because I had read several threads about long 3 step aiders tend to be less stable.

Received mine about a week ago, and absolutely love it. Been up and down the tree a few times, and it works as advertised. Paired with some squirrel steps for ros, I’m not sure how this combo can be beat.
I am using with the Bullman ROS. I agree I think this will be an unbeatable combo and truly let me move 360 around the tree.

I’m 5’10” and old.I ordered the 3 step at 15” spacing because I have 20” sticks and find them difficult to climb. I got my Ultimate Stick and it’s awesome. I found with heavy winter clothes it’s hard for me to make the 15” spacing. I ordered a double step and three step sewn on aider with 12" spacing, a scout, and a couple stand offs so I can make my late season Ultimate Stick from an old cut down LoneWolf.
I just checked my 6’ step ladder and the spacing is 12” on it.

Thanks! I saw the exchange option on the EWO site and contemplated it, but I think I’m really going to like the longer stride in early season. I’m going to give it some time/practice... and if it proves to be a little too much, I’ll either do the exchange or order a separate step and aider set-up for late season that I can swap out if needed. I saw a video on the tube with someone who ordered the same set up you mentioned (maybe this was you?)... but it looked like a really thought out set-up. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer when it comes to 2 vs 3 step aider as long as you get spacing that is comfortable.
Agreed, have to find what’s right for you. I too had thought about an early and late season setup. My thoughts were that I need to focus on a winter setup, which should work just fine in the early season as well considering that I probably will not want to climb as high then due to leaf cover; in that a lot of times the higher you go, the less you can see.

I had this same question. Is the measurement you order from dano pre weighted? Meaning, does it sag another 2-4” once you put your boot in it? Could someone measure theirs while it’s stretch out and compare them for me?
Previous response posted weird, so let me try this again and hopefully you can see the pic. This is stretched out and measured from top of step on the stick to first step in aider. I ordered 20”, but it looks closer to a 21-21.5” stride. I hope this helps. 1FC262A2-9E27-46AD-AC69-C9709AD5B636.jpeg

You can place your order for it now and in the notes specify that you want the monarch. That’s what I did (I asked dano and that’s what he told me to do).
You how much extra is it. On price wise. Because the monarch is a little more in price than the other two platforms.

Dano wasn’t 100% sure but he said maybe $30 more. I put the order in with the scout attached and paid. He said we would figure out the final price when the stick was completed.

I just ordered my rope and a safeguard from DanO and it shipped out today. I forgot to get a quick link. I have a old muddy stick laying around and was going to practice and play with so I can what works for me aider wise before I order a stick.
But with option of just changing out bottom stick and aider lengths without getting another stick. I may just order my other stick.
I have never attempted the one stick method yet.

Neither have I. I’m hoping it’s something I can and will enjoy doing bc the Stick is a pretty good size investment. But I know I don’t like carrying 3 full size LW sticks a long way in.

Yall will be fine. Just know that it is a little bit of a process and until you get it down it is going to feel awkward, sketchy, maybe noisy, and definitely slow. Once you get your movements down it really is a pleasant way to climb. I don't like the coming down part so I will forever stick with rappelling. One thing that I realized over this full season of one sticking was that I liked short aider step distance than I liked or could achieve with sticks. Where I could manage a 24" and even 30" step stretching on a stick all day, a 18" aider spacing made it very easy for me to quickly step in and up to my stick even with mud boots on.

I started one sticking half way thru the season with a DIY one stick. How do y'all keep the slack out of the tether when going up the aider and stick?

Charlie, it looks like you are doing it right from the start with your order. Just take your time. Once you get the hang of it I think you'll love it. I think it's quiet, fast and easy now. Carrying the stick in my pack is a joy, you don't even know it's there.

Rappelling is a blast. I was a little intimidated at first. I started from one stick up until I was comfortable with it.

I have repelled a good bit compared to most. Some of them was on a less controlled device compared to a safeguard. I have done it with just 3 wraps of the rope on the stem of the carabiner. That’s a fast fall. But it’s doable.

I use my linemans belt to alleviate the tether slack. After setting my stick I attach my lineman and climb to the top step, move tether up, detach lineman and hang on tether to move stick. It takes a little longer but I know I won't have the chance of falling on a slack tether.

What is everyone's TYD price. It is looking like about $300 with shipping.
