Any recommendations on the UP vs. the scout for the EWO ultimate one stick. I'm ready to order but wanted some feedback on platform options. Thanks in advance.

I have a 15-inch EWO stick with 3 step aider.

I had a slanted scout on top that I just sold and currently have the U.P. If I'm going to be 100% honest, I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it, but it's still early.

I love the design of the UP. DanO and his team did a fantastic job and because the standoff is built into the platform, it's rock-solid steady, no flex on it whatsoever. My only complaint it is that it is rather heavy coming in at 32 ounces. It's not debilitatingly so, but the stick certainly feels a little top-heavy when handling it. It sure does provide a perfectly sold hold though, so you do get a lot for the 32 ounces. The UP does make it a little harder to just strap to a backpack, if I keep it I'm going to have to figure out a good way to carry it.

The scout weighs in at 14.9 ounces, less than half of the UP. I did not notice the scout being top-heavy at all when handling it. One sticking was easy although I imagine it would be easier with the flat scout.

Personally, again just one man's opinion, I don't think either of them are viable for all-day sits, could you do it sure, but I think we all believe there are better options out there.

If I was someone who only had the ability to do shorter sits; after work, early morning or evening hunts they would be perfect. The UP certainly makes climbing easier and gives you loads more room up top.

My personal struggle keeps me going back to just taking my predator out every time and putting a double step on top of my stick; or keeping the predator at home on shorter sits and using just the UP. Going with just the double step and standoff on top I'd weigh in at 5.2 ounces, feel ultra-light compared to either of the top of stick platforms. With that being said during the rut or when I have the time longer sits I'd want to haul both. If I find myself thinking I'm going to haul both out then I think it's just best to have the lightest stick possible and bring the platform every time.

The good news is that's where there are so many great options out there and they keep coming! Hope my rambling makes sense. I know there is extra info in there you didn't ask for but it just kinda fit into the situation.

Great info and very helpful! Thanks!

I had the straight scout on a one stick I built. Never hunted with it but played around with it in the yard and loved it for what it was. I sold it to try a UP. The UP is a fantastic platform, but for me it took away from my original reasoning for going with the scout to begin with, which was weight. So I sold the UP and am going back to the straight scout.

For me I plan in trying to utilize the scout as the platform and then if I have to turn around to face out away from the tree, I’m planning to basically utilize the bottom double step of my stick to basically stem one foot down on and the other foot still on the scout and then lean out and shoot that way. I tried this in the yard and it felt awesome as far as stance and a good enough footing to draw the bow back. In that position I will kind of be still hugging the tree and not leaning out so far so hoping that adds to the concealment in a way.

Granted the extra move of turning and dipping my foot down to that bottom step might end up burning me but I’m willing to try and see how well it works.

For longer sits and/or better comfort, I plan on hauling out the RR platform in addition to the one stick and then I’ll have the scout and the RR to utilize for more space in the tree.

Of course this is all the current plan and always subject to change without notice. As it usually does. Hah!

I wouldn’t discount the flat monarch, it’s was the best middle ground for me between the UP and scout. And ooal has 15% right now. This was the difference in shikar mini with scout, ewo with UP and and ewo stick with flat monarch.

I have the flat scout and was tempted when I saw the UP, but I really, really like the flat scout. I often carry my predator or mission if I need something additional. The flat scout is just perfect for the purpose of the one stick in my opinion.

I liked the monarch because it gives a good size standing surface without the bump of the step in the arch like the scout. Distance from the tree is the same as scout and UP. And only 20 ounces.
