USPS shipping delays

Neighbor works for UPS. He is working double shifts and getting time and a half right now because of unprecedented volume. He said he's never seen more stuff come through the local UPS branch. They are trying to hire but finding reliable workers is difficult. They've had to raise the starting wage several times already. He said the pandemic had already increases shipping tenfold over what is was before as most people started to make a majority of purchases online. Couple that with your typical holiday increase and it's no wonder there's delays. Be patient. Those guys/gals are working their tails off to get you stuff as fast as they can.

Yep, everyone is shopping on line this holiday season because of the circumstances. My wife and I went into town this past Sunday. It's a couple weeks before Xmas yet all of the stores were dead. Nobody is shopping in brick and mortars this year.

In WI and most of our stuff has to go through a Hub in Chicago.

That hub is where shipments go to die. The shipment that made me never use USPS again was a package that ended up there and never got updated again for three weeks. Just said it was “arrived” at that location then nothing for 3 weeks until it showed up at my door one day.

But they assure everyone mail in ballots were handled without a hitch. Yeah, sure they were.

My business (pre-covid) used Canada Post/ USPS almost exclusively and we would get some zingers at times but every single package got delivered. As soon as Covid hit things got whacky! We would ship to Nashville and it would go to Washington state then Florida finally to its destination. I was told that sorting facilities were overwhelmed and they would send them wherever it could be processed the quickest.

That all being said. I am still waiting on my saddle and it has been in customs for 5 days! So painful to watch that tracker not move!

FedEx ground is 2 day shipping. The tracking always works, and ived never had a delay. Only good experiences here. As anything it all depends on what experience you’ve had where.

I have had 1 package hit a sorting facility and never update again.

then this(they never attempted delivery). All within a week.

Here’s a new one.. someone explain what a delivery failed means 53C519BE-40F1-4F78-9F4C-7F6AC6BCA457.png

Well just got a USPS shipping notification for some PMAGs that I ordered yesterday. Maybe i'll get them before the end of the year. A package that I shipped, and should have been delivered last Monday, still hasn't left our local hub apparently.

i think it varies. for example, fedex is TERRIBLE for me. anything big or heavy they act like they've tried to deliver and make you go pick it up from their local distribution facility. kinda defeats the purpose of paying for delivery. USPS is understaffed and underfunded/ funding cut multiple times recently, i don't want to get into a politics debate (what is this, archerytalk lol) so wont say any more. UPS and amazon seem to be the best for me, but yeah, the pandemic and online shopping is NUTS on an already overburdened system. from the distribution centers to the truckers to the delivery drivers, whatever uniform they're wearing, they're BUSY BUSY BUSY.

I've been looking for new line of work anyway....for a simple donation of 5 bucks from all SHmember I will volunteer to be the gear runner for 2021 .. guarantee faster than government mail. Also excepting tips
As much catch and release is done on here, you'd need a Star Trek beamer.

USPS lost a windwalker stand I bought this summer, it was a nightmare, 2.5 months later it showed up, the tracking number info cleared and I had to write a hand written letter to some mail recovery place where they auction your stuff off that they “lose”, this place has no phone number or email, it was one of the worst customer service experiences of my life and I buy a lot of stuff, if I was paid $5 an hour for the time I spent on the phone with clueless people I could have bought a LWCG .5

I talked to a lady at the PO today and she said Indiana USPS alone had 186 people out sick today from COVID.

Two for one comments: My wife ordered a package from Walmart at 1400 and it was at our door at 1830 same evening, that's how it's done. In my area UPS is del in personal autos, got a Mission del in an SUV from UPS.

I ordered something from Dutch Harbor Alaska and it took it 5 days to get to Indianapolis which seems pretty good in my opinion for 3000 miles and outside the CONUS. It then took a week to get out of Indianapolis to Fort Wayne 120 miles away. I'm just glad I got it at this point.

It’s been 12 days and my new to me Wooltimate hunting clothes are still sitting “in transit”. At this rate it will be turkey season before I get them and won’t be able to use them until next December. I’m overreacting but still, it’s my stuff and I want it now lol
